Thanks all. Excellent information.

It was a PC 90 and I like the Sachs idea. Namely that 'random' (at least censorship) occurred - and definitely if you are in 'interesting' areas but have a German type name and your mail will be censored....

I love all the countries renowned for overproduction of stamps getting on this small bandwagon and the private productions. I accept the Falklands island stamps as being appropriate. The rest is just 'get the money from the silly conservative stamp collector' stuff right up there with Princess Diana...

Certainly Taiwan used to consider itself until 1991 as the 'real' rulers of China as such they would expect to be in a China catalogue. It was on this basis it held a seat in the UN. Britain's regional / national stamps merely reflect the way in football / soccer these 'countries' are also 'independent'. And given Scotland's independence referendum next year...

I think it's an interesting eccentricity to have them; and they certainly do postal duty so they are not rubbish stamps.

I have no problem with a set off stamps including her - a dead PM set is quite appropriate. A set of just her - or a single stamp - is too politically divisive a statement.

A divisive politician who made it to PM has died. No politician should merit a postal stamp till they have been dead say fifty years so their real worth to history can be judged.
