When working out the highest postal rate, what are you comparing it to? If you take India, even at the 5 rupees charge - thats often enough for someone to get a feed. I would compare the rate to the average wage and see who costs the most. So India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh even China and some African ...

6 weeks later and it's not yet fixed? I wonder how many times they have rented out that car since and perhaps billed each victim for "damage"? Surely not every renter will have noted the slight damage? PS they owe your friend the interest payment on her card for the unauthorised transaction.

The watermark sounds like the edge of a sheet where the words "POSTAGE" and the line would appear with the swans inside.

I'm not sure what the full text might say for a WA sheet of that time, perhaps WA POSTAGE or something similar.

Yes they are both genuine.

As to colour, Red - don't know, doesn't seem blued. Green looks to be Yellow-Green.

While it does look like a 2, its impossible to be an inverted 5. It would be upside down, not mirror imaged.
It should be catalogued though.

You can see that the ink has bled into the surrounding unprinted areas. Original ink would not have done that. It's a nice fantasy piece.

There's always 2 sides to a story, you don't normally go up and "attack" someone, even if the "punch" didn't connect. At the moment Warner is a sitting duck for pre-match sledging.

If you mean the "horizontal line" about 2/3rds the way down the stamp, that's a crease/fold in the paper.

England, Scotland, Ireland and most Australian states had them.
Is there a particular country your after?

Eg Ireland had: 101 - Carnew (Wicklow)
and 231 - Freshford (Kilkenny)

While I doubt the address has much to do with it, Parramatta City has a population of about 175,000 - not just the suburb called Parramatta and was one of the first populated regions (1790!) outside Sydney when Australia was first colonised. Parramatta was so large that it required a dam to be built...

Whoever made the perfin had trouble with his S - it's backwards.

edit - strike that, the perfin came from behind. :oops:

But anybody could have grabbed a pin and made a pretty pattern without any concerns unless they tried OS.

Stamps still get perfined today on special ocaisions. :D

The next release (Sept/Oct) of Windows 8 will be not a "service pack" but called Windows 8.1 codenamed 'Blue'. Odd name as that's what most users are sick of seeing on their screens and how most users feel after trying to get to grips with the OS. The upgrade will be free to all Win8 users...

I haven't read up on them but they do look to be an image from each decade of those 60 years and certainly look like they are from the official portraits each time, there is nothing to change. They look quite good.

Don't have a catalogue in front of me but always check the perfs and also check the watermark. If they are the same plate then there must be something to tell the difference, even if it was the method of printing from the plate or as Aethelwulf says the paper used. I'm reading conflicting reports between Nauru and Kiribati being relocated to Fiji.

Many Island nations seem to not want go, of course; but some like Kiribati have bought a few thousand acres to grow their food supplies on.

Which seems odd in a way - you still have to ship it all back to the Island.
