I find FDCs useful for the special pictorial cancellations. One rarely finds these special postmarks in used covers here in India and the best way for a collector, especially thematic, is the FDC. As for commercial covers, I just keep whatever I get. I have a decent collection of modern postally use...

I had just watched the film Get Low (2009) and it was interesting to see a scene where a priest is actually shown looking at his stamp collection! The scene has no connection to the story, but it was interesting when I opened the browser after watching the film and this thread showed up!

I would like to know if anyone has come cross a cancel/postmark from the town Ruzkovy Lhotice from Czechoslovakia. If someone has access to any of the monographs on Czech post office cancels etc I would be grateful for whatever information they can provide.

I basically soaked all the CTOs of Czechoslovakia. Given the quality of the gum and the glossy finish I wonder if they were actually regummed. Maybe some of the specialists can enlighten.

I'd go for 300$. I heard recently that any cover with 3 lower value Gandhi stamps were going for about 15000 INR. Generally these prices do not take the quality of a cover into consideration!

Received a lovely cover from brendan1952 today. The cover came fine with nice manual cancels. Unfortunately my local post office has not given a receipt cancel because of the glassine cover probably maybe. Am posting the scan in the scan thread.
