I didn't think so, but since BW says "Punctured OS doesn't appear to exist in single line perf ", it would be quite a find.

It's a perfect example of why you need to post scans as large & clear as possible.

Looking again at no. 6- the 2d Die 3. It can be plated as 3R38. In relation to the shade lines in the top right corner, there is a break in the middle of the 4th line & at the right end of the 6th line.

2nd lot:-

5. 4d olive. Not in the checklist.
6. 2d Die 3. This is definitely not constant.
7. 1 1/2d black-brown, As above. This is commonly found on stamps from the side of the plate.
8. Is a listed flaw; 88(12)h. Position 12L60.

Nice pair, 6/40-41. The notch is not listed & there was no flaw on 41 during the red printings.

Yes, & everything is as it should be, including the perfs. I'm not very familiar with this issue so have been through the checklist carefully, but there doesn't seem to be a plate flaw.

I don't think there are any plate flaws there. I'd be pretty confident that that is no watermark paper, & that sort of appearance is pretty typical.

Constantl Too many questions. In general, as far as I am aware, very little is known about State perfins. In the case of the Commonwealth it appears that shades thought to be inferior were held back & perfed O.S. I suspect that didn't happen with the States: they just purchased what was on offer...

That is a constant flaw, 6/59.

I don't know the cause but it wasn't present on the earliest printings, so it was somehow damaged during use.

PeterS What tests are actually necessary? You can see for yourself that the thin shows daylight, so bad is it, but you can still see the watermark.
