OK So I got Photobucket and uploaded a scan of my Cyprus stamps. When I try to embed the file here it tells me that I can only have 850 pixel height. When I try to change the screen size to 600 x 800 pixels in Photobucket it doesn't have a save button that I can see. What am I doing wrong?

Delete the image from photobucket and start again but before you upload the image to pb select the 15 inch monitor setting this is under the green upload images and video tab in the more options and then upload again

You are not doing anything wrong Drew.

This little change by Photobucket has caught out a few of us. The submit button is hidden at the bottom of the screen. The easiest way to solve the problem is: hit F11 so that you are using the whole screen; make your selection and hit Submit; hit F11 again to return to your normal screen.

I had deleted 4 previous tries GUTTERS but couldn't save the changes. Thanks for the F11 info Kevin. We will see if this works now. Who says that you can't teach an old dog (wolf) new tricks?

Cropping the black will give a bigger picture of the stamp/s

You are getting there.

If you use Picasa then the following applies:

before you crop use the 'straighten' tool to make sure the stamps are aligned correctly;

then you can crop - best to leave a black margin all the way around. First select an area a little larger than you want and then reduce each side one at a time until it suits you.

It may sound complex but you will soon do it very quickly with excellent results.

I also claimed that by cropping the black will enlarge the stamp as you note this did not happen.
The reason for this is probably when you scanned it, it was at a low resolution bring the resolution up and the size will increase.

That's because it will be the same image as the first one. When it asks if you want to replace the original image say no and see what happens.

Nearly there woodbutcher. Just crop it closer and make sure you have selected the 15" size in Photobucket.

When you use your link on Page 1 of this thread http://picasa.google.com/download

you get:

Google
Error

The requested URL /download was not found on this server.

I've not yet searched Google thoroughly for it, but if it is gone and you are able to provide a download link for it that would be desirable I guess, perhaps it is elsewhere on the web. I'll look.

Well this is my first attempt to see if I can post a photo - just a random one.

If I succeed that I'll be putting some of my India States stuff on.

Image

Yep - I can see from the preview that is works.

If you see this, Glen, is it OK? Not too big a picture?

Thanks

Paul

bedford boy, try to crop a little wider so as all the perforations are seen, and while you are there you can straighten the image too. Play with the options a bit and see what you get. Don't let it intimidate you

Photobucket isn't what it used to be, but then what is? I'm referring to the phenomenon known as feature creep. On the other hand, we minimalists are an endangered species these days

And now, (he said, veering safely back on-topic), here is a picture hosted at Photobucket. Eh voila!

Image

Works fine once I figured out how to center the image (in the editor here at Stampboards). You highlight the entire block of IMG code, then click the "centre" button at the top of the editor. It sticks a CENTRE tag before the IMG code and a /CENTRE tag at the end. Note the British spelling of "centre".

As much as that photo looks like something out of Red Alert 3 or some other video game, it is actually very much from the real world; in fact, the big celebration in Peking last October to mark the 60th anniversary of the 1949 revolution. Let no one say that Communists don't understand pageantry; it was one heck of a show, from what I saw on AJE.

Perfect Oldpossum! One thing, you don't have to centre the image.
