This book contains 50 stories (254 pages) of early Fiji, compiled from articles in the Fiji Times with assistance of Fiji Museum and Fiji Archives:

First published 1979 ... this one is the 1983 (4th) reprint.

Not philatelic, but might provide some historical insights to a Pacific Island collector.

Not recommended for a junior, as Fiji's early history is quite brutal. Happy to have a parent take it and exercise their own judgement as to when (age wise) it might be suitable to pass on to an offspring.

Don't you have to marinate in RED WINE for that recipe.

I always thought that it was curious that Captain Cook died in the Sandwich Islands, killed by the natives.

In this book, Cook would have been regarded as mutton, as for wine! Well there was drink, and there was red, and no doubt there was a mixing at times. However it would have been more accidential then intentional.

It is an interesting book.

I was trying to be mindful of the sensibilities of our readers.

Don't read it while eating.

I actually acquired this book to scan the image inside the front cover, which happens to be an engraving of a Papuan Lakatoi.

I bought it in Fiji. I lived there for a while. Loved the Islands. Now that I think of them. I might just wander up there for a few weeks.

Huanga.
