I started collecting early in the 1950s, well maybe even a year before that. I guess that must mean I am over 40.

I was just born when Berlin-Gus started collecting, so I can't be the oldest.

I bought my first stamp around 1956 and I haven't really stopped since. Funny how the prices keep going up faster than my age does.

Hi!
Ok, So far Erik you're the youngest at 15 - I wish that I could have started collecting at your age - keep it going.
Hey Kevin! as far as I can see, you're the only eldest person willing to reveal his age- a whole 72 good on you .
Is there anyone younger than Erik or older than Kevin and if so will you share ?
Regards

Out of 6575 (?) registered stampboarders only 100 have responded.

We need a lot more if the age analysis is to be meaningful

O.K. I confess. I just turned 80 last April
Almost shot my age in golf last week so
things must still be going well.
But I know there are still some out there
older than me.

Actually, only 37 have responded. The "100" you see is the percentage breakdown of how everyone voted. :D

45. I still feel pretty young at auctions, but that's slowly changing. Sad but inevitable.

I started collecting really early in life then left it for a long while (as most people do). Re-started in ernest when I began earning real money in the early 1980's with typically perfect timing, right in the mad days of selling and collecting in Australia. Should have invested the dollars all in better quality Roo's (hindsight is marvellous isn't it :!: ).

I then meandered a bit (read into that - had a really good time 8) ) until I inherited my father's stamp collections in the late 1990's.

I'm now 59, sounds really old yet strangely I don't feel any older than, oh, 40 or so.

I put it all down to food preservatives, they make food last longer so why not us humans

I started collecting stamps when I was 11, I'd been given a FDC as part of the QEII Silver Jubilee celebrations in 1977. I was introduced to my local philatelic society by a friend of the family when I was about 14. They had a small junior section, but I still felt uncomfortable, and never got involved.

I rejoined in 2003 ironically just after my family friend had just past away. I was then and still am the youngest member of my local society (Derby Philatelic Society)

Richard

I'm just about almost 50 - and feel very young at stamp events... I would say the average age of collectors in the UK is definitely 60-65 plus.

Hi, I just turned 59. Started collecting when I was a kid but, same as others, gave it away for a long time. 5 kids tends to do that to you! :( Should have kept going, maybe they would be taking more of an interest in it now! Been back to more serious collecting over the last 10 years.

31 years old, or should I say young!? Started collecting at age of 6 (I think), then made a stop for a reason of inability to collect stamp during war times in Sarajevo (tough collected ammunition cartridges and other kinds of war related collectables :? ) Then, soon after war continued to collect stamps and got seriously into money collecting (both cash and old :D )

52 now and didn't even start collecting till after I was 40 even though my grandfather took up my father's collection after a stroke.

Teaching my 3 grandchildren and the 6-yr old next door (5 when we started) to collect stamps.
