A Canada Post employee has been charged with mail theft.
Mounties say the 24-year-old Winnipegger was a â€śmail delivery contract employeeâ€ť for Canada Post who ran the Highway 6 route between Winnipeg and Gypsumville.
RCMP executed a search warrant at a Gypsumville home on Monday after being alerted to multiple reports of mail theft along the route. They seized a number of items â€” primarily electronic goods â€” and arrested the man at the scene,
The suspect, who was not named by Mounties, faces charges of mail theft, possession of property obtained by crime, and possession of the proceeds of crime. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in St. Martin on Dec. 12.
