1. Most of them use the Annigoni portrait of the Queen (but the Anguilla Scott numbers should be for Antigua.)

2. Yes - try earlier Antigua for a start.

You got it. :D It took a while to plough through the Scott catalogue to try and find them all.

I see the ones you mean, 167 - 182, and 129 -132. The series from 167 are absolutely beautiful.

Just noticed the 1969 issue.

I love that portrait, and am concentrating of buying the stamps with it at the moment.

There is of course a long set of defins from 5 cents to $20 from Hong Kong called "the Annigoni series". 8) IIRC issued 1962.

I'm sure I've got a mint Barbados set knocking about - email me if you need them?

Aye, I know. :( I have a few of them, used, and not in great condition. Unfortunately a good set either lightly hinged or MNH is a fortune.

I have to say, the $1.30 value is absolutely stunning! That must be one of the nicest stamps showing Queen Lizzy II ever issued!

No doubt about it, Her Majesty was quite a fox way back then, 1954-55 in the garter robes.

Not sure (and at work so I can't check), but I think the 2/8d commem issued by Norfolk Island also uses that portrait.

Good call Peter. The Local Government Commemorative and the 9d 1960 flower definitive.

I have always thought the 2/8d to be an excellent design.

This special sheet will be a must for you.

It was only issued in the 2006 Year Album.

I don't suppose you have one for sale?

I bought Gibbons part 1 today, 1995 edition, for £5.00, what a weight of paper. On leafing through, I'm going to end up with a lot of stamps. :D

Probably worth going through each country and setting up a spreadsheet.

These came in today:

I don't have one, but other members on the board will.

Failing that there is one or two on feebay.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2006-Superb- ... 1049988233

You will also need this sheet from Tonga.

Image

Ditto for Barbados. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Queen-s-Golden- ... 0950020058

Then throw in Papua New Guinea, The Solomons, British Virgin Islands, Nauru etc who all issued a similar sheet. Enjoy the chase. :D

There was an omnibus lot of the 2002 issues available on feebay.

You may need to check these countries issues for the Jubilee issues.

Ascension Island, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, British Antarctic Territory, British Indian Ocean Territory, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Jamaica, Nauru, Niuafo'ou*, Norfolk Island, Papua New Guinea, Pitcairn Islands*, St Helena, Saint Lucia, Solomon Islands, South Georgia, Swaziland, Tokelau, Tonga* & Tristan da Cunha.

A total of 25 miniature sheets and 22 sets with additional Australia set + MS and UK set. Nominal price when issued at least €300++

I've just contacted the seller and bought the lot for the opening bid. I'm not a huge fan of buying everything in one go, much more fun to acquire them bit by bit, but for the likes of these, I have a feeling that assembling a full set in the future is not going to be easy.

That looks like a good buy, Jim. 8)

Interestingly the listing in Paul's post is still showing as available on ebay, so maybe he has more than one lot

I've just noticed from the list that Canada is missing, not a problem because I already have them. I can understand why they weren't included, there are seven mini sheets, plus the sheet of 8 $2.00 stamps. I bought the six packs, which include mini sheets plus a prepaid postcard, all in an outer folder.

I've allways found this series and portrait being truely 'imperial'. The last true philatelic icon of the Empire.

An Update.

This has become almost an obsession. I'm not going to say how much I've spent in total, but I bought the Hong Kong Annigoni series 1962 (there is a scan above) to $5.00 MNH for £20.00 the other day (which I thought was a good price), plus Gibraltar, Seychelles, Turks & Caicos etc etc....

I give thanks to the Lord nightly, that my Mrs doesn't know my PayPal password. :D

The obligatory post:

Are those not simply beautiful? :D

I like that portrait. It brings out the Queen's sense of humour, which apparently is very dry and very quick. :D

Perhaps this should be changed to 'The Annigoni' thread, would anyone else like to post some?

Perhaps this should be changed to 'The Annigoni' thread, would anyone else like to post some?

Thank you for that, it has the makings of a good thread. I still have quite a number to scan and post, but please good people, post the ones you have. We can end up with a handy reference for anyone interested in these.

Can any of our Australian posters sell me one of these? I've had a look on EBay, but haven't seen it as a single, and I don't want the rest of the offers. MNH or very lightly hinged please. Please quote price inc P&P, any currency you like, PayPal sorts it out. :D

Machaggis52 are you aware of the mini-omnibus 1958 West Indies Federation set? Here is one of the sets I came across when I was looking for something else earlier tonight:

Image

I think that the complete list is Antigua, Jamaica, Montserrat, St Lucia, St Vincent, St Christopher Nevis Anguilla, and Trinidad & Tobago. Somebody will, of course come along and tell me that I am wrong here.

They can be found fairly cheaply - you should be able to get the lot for something under $10.00.

Anyone got any more to post? I still have a few left, and a few in transit, then that is it. I know we have Commonwealth collectors on the board, dig them out and post them! :D
