I was about to nominate this thread when I saw it already has two nominations.

I will add a third for:

Starling
"Blue Owl's Stamps" selling forged perfins, and re-perfs?
http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=28978

A great investigative effort - promoting what is good in philately and exposing what is bad!!!

It may not need another nomination, but:

Starling
"Blue Owl's Stamps" selling forged perfins, and re-perfs?

Yes, Starling without any doubt, as his effort in providing facts and proof and obviously research of all corners leading to this shame file.

He covered all aspects of the fraudulent activities in words and pictures of Blue Owl Stamps, Jude Koch and his wife including APTA's weak involvement.

Scott, a job well done!

My vote goes to Starling for his exposure of Blue Owls forgeries. Job well done and I believed would make a very worthy winner.

Ok, since Starling looks like a lock for this month, I need not nominate him.....but what the heck, I do.

Also wanted to say thank you again for the lovely prize. I received it a few days ago. It is a lovely book and some lovely stamps. Modern Australia are almost always all beauties. Thanks once again.

Yes, Starling has probably enough nominations to win already but I would also like to 'second' his nominations for a job well done. Good on you mate!

Thanks Glen for the 2010 Annual Collection, arrived safely today.

By the way, which of the souvenir sheets is the exclusive sheet only available in the annual collection? (I don't collect Australian stamps as you can see!).

My guess is that is the fish S/S in the front of the book, but not sure.

Thanks again
Greg

Yes I think the Fish M/S is the exclusive one. :)

I am surprised no one has made the nomination yet, but I would like to nominate drvvr for his thread,

"Do you remember your first day at Stampboards?"

I enjoyed the chance to reflect on what brought me here, and why I enjoy Stampboards so much. I think many others will also, and it will become a much read topic for years to come.

I just went through that thread, and yeah, it's an excellent idea for a topic. I nominate it as well.

I would have nominated the Freebie Vacuum Cleaner thread, but Glen started it. I've seen pictures of his home, and he doesn't need any more stamps to feed the Kookaburras..... :x

I'd like to nominate another drvvr thread:

drvvr
Philatelic Terms - An "A to Z" detailed compendium
http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=7580

This thread was started in the wiki section of the board by member Amhazing back in 2008 but never completed. Glen recently noticed what a large number of views it had and asked if anyone could help out in completing it and drvvr answered the call and finished off the project in record time.

Lots of work for drvvr and much appreciated- definitely a thread that attracts Google hits so well worth completion and now relocated to 'Discuss stamps' where it is a bit more visible.

Thanks again drvvr for this great contribution to the SB community.

Cheers
Margo

Thanks to everyone who nominated me for last month's Award.

The lovely Year Book arrived in the post today.

It was certainly a thread that took off, and has had many contributions from other Stampboarders.

Thanks to all again.

I would like to nominate muruk for his generous donations to both young and old all free. There are too many links to put up here but here is one in the selling forum where he buys the lot and gives it away to the first young collector who claims it.

muruk

Folks can we ALL please try and remember that whenever you post a longish website link the software annoyingly SHORTENS it to look like this -

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2556

Which clicks fine in the post but whenever anyone cuts and pastes the post, it does NOT then link anywhere. As the post above shows us!

What we ask ALL members to do from now on whenever posting ANY link is to post the link as you do now i.e.

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2556

THEN highlight it with your cursor, and hit the "URL" button just above it, which instantly adds the code of and before and after it, i.e..

http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2556

And the ENTIRE link then stays complete, even when cut and pasted by others.

It will take you just a second extra to do it on each post, and it will make the Moderator's job easy as now we need to manually do that a lot via edits.

Thanks a lot.... I do not know how to use one of those funky smilies that Jacob uses.... But I would want to use one of those smileys in which someone is jumping in skies and rolling on floors... :D :D ..

No words to express my gratitude and heartfelt thanks..

Thanks..... Thanks..... Thanks.... :D :D :D :D

I am going to kick off the month with an early nomination!

It seems like no matter how fast I race to the Hello All NEW Members - please briefly introduce yourself! thread, there is always one particular person who is there first, giving a warm and thoughtful welcome to the new members. 8)

So I would like to nominate Brummie for always being there for our new members with a helpful hint, and sincere interest!

Thank you Brummie! :D

Kristine

Congrats to drvvr for winning last month's prize :D

This month I'd like to nominate the runner up to last month:

Muruk (Hans)

His many interesting topics and more importantly his generosity to young collectors should not go unrewarded. Here are a couple of typical examples:

Seconded by me....Brummie is one of the great unsung heroes of Stampboards.

She is always quietly working away helping people on a number of threads and adding a friendly and cheerful hand wherever it is needed on the board. This is most evident on the welcome thread but you will see her pop up all over the place pouring oil on troubled waters

Congrats to drvvr for winning last month's prize :D

This month I'd like to nominate the runner up to last month:

Muruk (Hans)

His many interesting topics and more importantly his generosity to young collectors should not go unrewarded. Here are a couple of typical examples:

Not only junior members, his generosity has reached even others like me.. His giveaways are worth nominating.... A few other threads to add on for Hans

I also nominate Muruk as well. His generosity towards all stampboarders should not go unrewarded.

I would like to ditto the posts above... MURUK

Quote:
I would like to nominate muruk for his generous donations to both young and old all free. There are too many links to put up here but here is one in the selling forum where he buys the lot and gives it away to the first young collector who claims it.

muruk
10 Whale-Dolphin-Porpoise covers, US $12 ppd.

I salute both brummie and muruk for the great work they do here and for the joy they bring to our community.

However, I'm going to duck out of picking one over the other by nominating a new and delightful thread with stunning close-up wildlife pictures by uncadonego. This has really lifted my spirits over the last few days. :D

uncadonego "The 2011 Festival Of Hawks"

Thanks for nominating me nigelc. I'm glad you enjoyed my Hawks thread, and I hope many more will too.

Thanks PeterS. I'm glad people are nominating the thread, but as of this post, there are only 245 views. I'd be happier if people were actually viewing it! :|

We will all just have to make a comment every day to keep it up above those counting threads.

The number one secret on stampboards to getting thread viewers is clear and precise thread TITLES. 8)

"The 2011 Festival Of Hawks"

To 99% of readers probably means zero to be honest (most would have assumed it was re AFL football) and as a result, all those superb bird photos are not being viewed as widely as they could be.

My BIRD close-up photos from the "2011 Festival Of Hawks"

As a heading would probably have got twice as many views, as a suggestion.

And would have attracted a lot of google traffic to it as well.

Glen

A) is there enough space to fit that in the title?

B) could you go ahead and make that change? But take out the "My".
Although it's accurate it feels icky to say it sometimes.
