I find those Australians above quite appealing. Here is one from Austria's current flower definitive series. Clean look, uncluttered, very well printed also.

A silk FDC showing roses...unfortunately, the silk cachet on these just never scan well for me, maybe they are too shiny. It's much nicer looking in person.

My poppy collection is slowly growing. This one came today...poppies and other meadow flowers on a minisheet on a Moldova 2009 FDC. The colors look much deeper in person.

Thanks - Yes it helps. Seems it is some type of wild bulb flower that is similar to various lilies maybe. It's in the same subfamily as a Calla Lily. It's very pretty. The Calla Lily is my favorite flower and that Eminium Lehmannii looks almost like a black one...which is why I was curious about it to begin with.

It is Eminium lehmannii, native to Central Asia and without a common name.

They are very interesting...I think I am going to try to find a bulb and grow one, if the bulbs can be found. Though west Texas is not really a central Asian climate...possibly I will kill it like my high humidity loving bat flowers.

I think your best bet would have been at the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew.

I don't know whether they sell flowers, or if they are importable to the USA.

Unique flowers of Malaysia.

Image

The third stamp is also known as 'Drunken Sailor". They start off as white, turn to pink and end up red. Gives off a perfume of its own, which may not exactly be liked by everyone. Used to plant this before but it needs space which my miniature garden does not allow.

This was recently issued
(a good chance for those who missed the original issue in sheetlets of 20),
one for each state and sold in the envelope shown below.

Kimberley tried to display scan of the $10 Waratah minisheet.

Image

The top one was a limited edition overprint of 100 issued by Canberra Philatelic Society
for their 2008 Stampshow.

The flower is embossed on the paper, producing a magnificient result.
Unfortunately due to the issue price I only purchased one of each type.
but should have bought at least a dozen for resale.

In answer to your question yes it is really a flower, the golden wattle is a rather common plant (or at least in my neighbourhood :P)
