Check out this amazing stamp I received on a package from Skilo. It is the largest stamp I own at over 2" X 6". I love it! Thank You Skilo!

These two mini sheets were received on a parcel from UK, and luckily there seems to be only neat CDS cancellations. The top three stamps are denominations 2nd, 1st, and E. Can anyone tell me the postage values of these three stamps.

Thanks

Hi Ian,

I received the parcel last week, so the sheets have been floating around for six years and no doubt the postage cost has gone up since they were purchased. What were the postage rates in 2004 for 2nd 1st and E (and what is E?), and in 2010??

Thanks

In 2004 when issued and currently:

2nd - 21p - 32p

1st - 30p - 41p

European Airmail minimum (20 g) - 40p
'E' stamps no longer issued, but rate currently 60p

Received this from librarianc. Really liked the $10 whales.

The scan is a little off since I couldn't close the lid.

Received from Stampboards member Arsdorf in Bangkok, returning mine to him.

Interesting stamps issued for the 2008 125th Anniversary of Thai Post. The stamp on the 5 baht is quite a good reproduction, but that on the 10 baht is heavily screened including the margin

Keep the Norway which is nicely postmarked and reasonably set out.
Soak the Dutch, nothing is dated so there is no postal information, and the sheets are sideways/sideways-inverted. Not particularly attractive, IMO.

Possibly the first person in the UK to have these which arrived this morning, January 31st. Thanks BrissyPete - see email!

(PS, the bar-code label peels off OK!)

Hi All,

Just thought I'd share this parcel top which I received from the US recently. It has a couple of the $18.30 Bixby Creek Bridges and the remainder on a label.

I think they're nice stamps.

Image

Great colour and contrast.

Leonard is a good guy .... I've visted his home in Louisville, and his stock of rare books is quite something - and had lunch with him there ... nice to see he is using real stamps!

He emailed me only a couple of days back about something - will have to get him to join up here!

Two is nice, but solo use is better still!

stallzer wrote:

Yes superb job - thank you! See below.

I added it up for sale here at $A25 and it will fetch more than you paid for the stamp at the PO ... an object lesson showing us ALL that using intelligent franking for overseas sendings, even today can MAKE money, to receipient, not cost them money!

The HIGHEST face value postage stamp ever issued by the USA. The 2010, $18.30 Bixby Creek Bridge stamp.

These high values have a VERY limited life, as the last several have shown us.

Postally used in current period of issue, and paying the exact SOLO rate of a large Registered 1st class letter to Australia. A postal history GEM for the future

SUPERB condition and very neatly corner cancelled showing clear January 2011 date. It somehow avoided the various USA and ozzie sorting centre ink jet and spray cancels, and tracking bar codes etc. Stamp is PRISTINE! As you can see. Unscuffed, and unrubbed, after 10,000 miles on planes and trucks.

The continued demand in the USA for solo use of high value stamps continues strongly and I venture to guess any other solo use of this is near unheard of.

Even getting a VFU example of this stamp OFF cover is near impossible.

Glen
