002 A very tasty cover with 3 x Vittorio Emanuelle 25c stamps, blue. Squared circle Ferrovia (Railway) postmarks from Roma (Rome) 1898, to Ireland, Cappoquin, Cahir, near Waterford SE Ireland, with receiving office thimble postmark on rear.
Any ideas of value? It is for sale.

jon, this forum is only for you to practice posting images (which I think you are doing very well now :D ) not for asking questions. Either start a topic of add to one already started. Please read the rules in the selling forum before you even mention selling

Thanks! There is a great story behind the stamp.

You know that Colonel Green held back some of the C3a sheet for himself, and he supposedly kept the straight edge so that no one would reperf them.

As the story progresses, his wife needed a stamp, and took one off his desk and affixed it to a letter.

Upon seeing this, Colonel Green removed the stamp from the envelope and placed it in a locket, backed by a C3, that he gave to her. Mabel's friends all said that this was impossible, that she would never do that.

The locket stayed in her posession, even after the Colonel died and his collections were sold. She left it to a family friend.

There was an image taken some years later for insurance purposes, and in this image you can see a small crack in the glass at 6 o'clock - a great identifier!

I personally opened the locket a few years ago along with the experts at PSE in California, and together we determined that the gum was never disturbed... the story of this being the only C3a that was used is hereby debunked as just a fabrication of time.

It really is a pretty piece.

We all suffer from the 'addiction' disease.

You have mastered the ability to post an image so that is a good start. Two things might come in handy when you start to use those images.

Using Photobucket, Picasa, or any of the image programs, you can rotate the images. In Photobucket it is Edit, Adjustment, Rotate.

It is also asked that you restrict the number of images per post - 5 or 6 is a good maximum. Bear in mind that some of our members are still restricted to slow computers and/or land-line connections and their download speeds can be quite slow.

A page includes 50 posts. When there are no images it comes up very quickly, if there are 50 images it will take time, and if there are 500 images we will all have problems.

Enjoy you time here and we look forward to your contributions.

I have uploaded a picture on photobucket and resized it to the 800x600.
But every time I want to post it here I get this warning: Your images may only be up to 856 pixels wide.

Edit: It's okay, it works now!

photobucket adds test...

Image

looks fine.

Apparently some forums are having adds appear in the photobucket images that are uploaded. Maybe it's the forums itself.

My recent problem with photobucket is, I'll upload a picture. Rotate it, crop it, etc.. then save it and add to Stampboards.

Looks exactly as it should... Look a day later at my pic on Stampboards and the pic has gone back to being uncropped, un rotated etc.

Still appears as it should in Photobucket, but does not show up right on here ocasionally for some reason.

jherek99 - if you change your setting to the 800 size we recommend you get 10 times larger!
