That was a long one! Well done to the back-up tech team for putting things right. Gmail was very quiet this morning. I expect a rush now.

Stuck here in Buneos Aires as UA cancelled the once a day flight last night as the PA system in economy class class did not work.

So plenty of spare time to test David's new portal.

Looks fine this end and YAY .. the 3 letter search David has magically got to work!

Superb --- many thanks!

David ... I have just made a post AFTER yours above, but it shows up on time codes as being made hours BEFORE, and slots in ahead of yours?

Hi Dave

Thanks for all of your work on this - the 3 word search is just great and working well.

I've just gone into admin and activated some new members - that's working fine.

But it does seem that new posts are not showing at the bottom of the thread now- they are interspersed.

Cheers Margo

David:

Further to our earlier communication.......after Margo posted her image to the above thread, my post now changes to READ and is no longer frozen as a new post.

But using "see new posts" yours and now "LibrarianC" DO come up as the most recent posts.

BYTE seems to be on a time clock coding several hours ahead of other members?

Thanks Byte for getting us back up.

Here are a few things I have noticed:-
No 'User Control Panel'
No 'View new posts | View your posts'
No 'Administration Control Panel'

I'll be back!

EDIT:Bytes 3 posts are still showing after mine. Back on the 'View new posts' page I show as the last to post.

I would appreciate some folks doing some testing for me. I am building a new server to serve the site to the web and need for all board functions to be tested through the following url. http://208.65.113.219

If you run across something that doesn't work there that does work under the www.stampboards.com access point to the site, please let me know.

Ok, so the test server was caught in a time warp.. Going to apply a few updates and reboot it.. The main site should be fine.. the time warped posts will age out in a few more hours.

Seems OK here Margo and Dave.

But the User Control Panel is way off to the right and some people may not see it. On 100% it only just shows on my screen.

Everything else seems good.

Mine has always been nearly off screen Raz, so no change for me there.

I've been trying to use all functions and all seems great to me.

Ok folks, I have changed the dns records to point at the new server. You should be connecting to the new server starting in the next few hours. If there are any issues, please let me know so we can resolve them.

you may experience some periodic service interruptions over the next hour or so as I work on tuning the database server a bit.. If you see a mysql error or database error it is likely a transient issue with me restarting the database server.

This is my first post via the new server and everything looks the same.

Regarding the UCP problem of others - Its nowhere near the edge of my screen, is it a widescreen, old screen sort of thing as I use a wide screen monitor?

I haven't had any Stampboards notifications of new posts to threads that I have contributed to, not even the one where I asked for blog testers which I started!

Is this a glitch? My UCP profile still says that I want them.

I've been into the User Control Panel twice, and everything looks normal (and unchanged). Help, please.

Doug as you can see Byte moved us to a new dedicated server in recent days, for more board stability, so this may be connected?

Let's know if you get this one!

I had the same problem, as previously reported, and like Doug I checked the UCP. None were in the spam folder.

Only when I switched email addresses did I start getting emails - but when I clicked on 'view new posts' only 3 came up instead of pages full. I would have expected that part of the system works by user, not by the user's email address?

A few days ago I emailed another member via the email box at the end of a message. The box to send me a copy was ticked. I didn't receive the copy.

Today I've tried to email myself via the email box at the end of one of my messages. I've received neither the message nor the copy.

It was working last time I used it - before Xmas.

Help :!:

Dave.

Thanks Wolfgang.

35 minutes later - no email :(

I'll send you one.

Also, I'm not receiving 'topic reply notifications' :?:

I'm on AOL, if that has any relevance.

Hi Dave
Have you checked your spam box? Sometimes when members have upgraded their security then Stampboards mail ends up there. We do have a large number of AOL users so don't think thats a factor .
I've checked your preference settings and they look fine.

I'll try emailing you via the board and via my own email account- please let me know if any are received.

Cheers
Margo for Stampboards moderation team

PS Having said there's no issue with AOL- have any other AOL users noticed recent problems with receiving/sending emails via Stampboards?

It's been 48 hours now, and I have received ZERO notification emails. I can't participate, and I can't sell items until this is fixed.

I even tried sending a private email to Glen, which he did not receive, and I did not get a copy back.

Please, a Mod, or the server operator in the U.S., find out what's wrong and fix it. My best guess is that during the switch to the new server, my email address was truncated, or corrupted, but not deleted, as the correct address still shows on the User Control Panel. I have verified all the settings again

Note, I am able to post, and posted to more than a dozen topics yesterday and today, just as a test.

Hi Margo.

Nothing in my spam box.

Received your direct email, from gmail.com - nothing via Stampboards.

The last 'topic reply notification' I have is the 19th Jan - although this may not be the latest I received as I have a clear out every now and again.

I know AOL can be a bit brutal with anything they regard as spam - I will enquire if they are blocking "stampboards.com".

Are emails coming from this new server :?: Are AOL, for some reason, blocking it :?:

Dave.

Checked with AOL - no they're not blocking "stampboards.com".

Anybody else on AOL?

Dave.
