There seems to be a tendency lately to start an item at a certain price along with a B-I-N price a few pence higher ... this is a good example.

Mod - Dead link deleted

I am not decrying it - just wondering at the purpose behind it. Is it seen as a good selling technique by experienced eBay sellers on this board?

For the sake of 5p why not just list it as a B-I-N for that price, after all I think it costs something around that figure to include a B-I-N price or even B-I-N it at £3.20.
_______________
FYI - Just in case this item is closed before it is viewed - he/she is starting it at £3.20 as a standard 5 day listing with a B-I-N Price of £3.25.

PS the policy of the board to change the word e b a y to e.b a y (with a dot in it) is causing the URL to fail so the number is 260126127708.

Good catch. I guess we should run ebay links through http://www.tinyurl.com before posting them here.

This is just a petty pointless waste of time, the seller is a moron. If you want instant sales, just do bin, or if you want a minimum price, just start it at that price. A 5 pence difference like the one you have shown can only be the work of a complete and utter, totally retarded moronic fool....it is just boll*cks

This happens a lot in the UK...

...don't understand why, although I suppose if someone bids at the starting price hoping to save 5p, then a second bidder comes in, the price would go higher than the BiN price giving the seller a "bonus" :?:

I have no idea why anyone would use BIN in the manner shown above.

Yes we have needed to get software to change e b a y when spelt as one word to e.bay to foil the DOZENS of spam attacks we get each day linked to this forum.

Having said that, the link in post one works fine for me. Not for others?

We also really like it when the image is hosted on photobucket etc so that is a year or 5 years time others can see what we were discussing here. In a few weeks that ebay image will vansih. This link below will not. It took me 38 seconds to do. :D

Won't the image vanish if the person who has it on PB moves or deletes the image at some point.

This happens when I posted images on another board and had to remove some due to allowed space in the image host.

In regards to the BIN issue.

is it cheaper to have a BIN price as part of a auction listing than a straight out BIN listing on UK ebay

A BIN gives you the option of requesting immediate payment as soon as the button is hit or the sale does not go through.

Yep... but on ebay it vanishes for CERTAIN after a few weeks. Photobucket offers for $25 a year vast storage. Most regular users here will cop that easily I imagine. :?:

Anyway, the free account offers quite high storage level.

They also offer that upgrade FREE if you spend $60 with certain merchants so I sent Mum flowers for Mother's Day and got the $25 upgrade free.

Interesting question that hadn't occurred to me so I did a test on auctiva.com which will estimate ebay fees .... and in fact it charges 5p for B-I-N inaddition to the standard auction listing fee (in this case 20p).

So the additional 5p he adds to the B-I-N price is swallowed up in the fee.
