Hi folks,

Recently I bought some Germany, Reich, MNH stamps from this guy in Poland, Piotr Gruszczynski aka panirenai (just an observation, my grandfather is from Poland so I have nothing particular against Poles and Poland as country, actually I like it).

It took them almost a month to arrive and seller, even tough he left positives didn't answer to my first message. So now when I received them I found it appropriate to send him another message to check out what feedback should I leave for him :?

Any way here are the messages (two consecutive one because messages at e-bay are limited re. number of characters). Please tell me your opinion on this, money involved is not big deal, about 20 bucks.

"Dear Mr Piotor,

I finally received stamps today and I'm not satisfied at all. Let me explain everything I found wrong in this little transaction.

First of all I sent you a message re. non recipe of stamps at 29.03.2012 since I paid for them at 14.03.2012 and we are both in Europe and 16 days passed and no stamps were received. I sent message to check out if you dispatched shipment. I received no answer to this date.

Today I finally received stamps, so it took them 25 days to arrive, tx God I don't live in Australia, it would probably take them 2 months!

When I checked cancel date on cover I got surprised, it was sen on 22.03.2012, exactly 9 days after I paid, talking about snail mail for sure!

Other surprise was fact that you didn't bother to use stamps on cover instead of ugly and useless machine cancel, it is common sense and politeness to use stamps on letters to stamp collectors. Also I paid you 4 $ US for postage when it turns out that real postage is 2.40 Polish Zlot.

So lets continue...

Real postage expenses were cca 0.8 $ US!!! It wouldn't bother me at all if you manged to pack them properly, but instead of cardboard or few small stockcards you simply put bunch of mint stamps in sheet of double folded paper! It was pure luck that they mostly got undamaged.

Beside, some of them were not MNH even advertised as such, but since there were quite few lots with lot of stamps I find it acceptable if there wasn't for all of other mentioned problems.

So, please advice me how should I react, giving you 9 negatives would be quite normal thing from perspective of many collectors I know!?

I hope you'll have an prompt answer on this messages and to make myself clear I'm not after refund, even tough I thought about raising non recipe case with ebay and give you a negative just as warning. This kind of business practice will not bring you very far.

Regards,

Danijel aka pitronixsa"

I'd give negative on the lots with problems (MH instead of MNH) and neutral for the rest.

Seriously bloated shipping charges

Non-existent packing material

Slowww despatch

Misdescribed as UM when some are hinged

I'd give negatives for the Hinged ones, saying "not as described, H when seller said NH", as for the rest, you could give positives but low "star" ratings for shipping time and cost. Although a mix of + and - feedback would look confusing.

I agree with HalfPennyYellow,

The slow dispatch is not great but not egregious.

The high mailing charges are not good, but as they were presumably advertised, I take it you accepted them.

What is completely unacceptable is that the stamps don't match the description, ie MNH. This should mean at least negative feedback, or returning the stamps for a full refund, including postage.

The lousy packaging is also unacceptable in my view.

Tx for feedback, to find out where to give negative for MH instead of MNH I would have to check lot pictures since all stamps arrived as described in message (plain bunch of stamps packed between two sheets of plain paper).

I'm not to much worried about few hinged stamps, this were lots on stockcards without any order, so I can forgive few overlooks, but problem is fact that they were dispatched to late, no communication from seller what so ever and fact that instead of packing them properly and probably paying more for postage as it would be heavier if packed properly.

This is why in first place I accepted 4 $ US postage as I counted they would be packed on some stockcards, glassiness stick to stockboard or something similar.

I'm not an expert in that area, but aren't German Reich stamps worth WAY more UM/MNH than MM/MH?

Hi,
In my opinion assuming doesn`t count in ebay.

I expect all sellers of philatelic item to use stamps while shipping but the percentage who use it without asking in feebay----- less than 2% positive feedback

Those who use only after asking---- 65% positive feedback

Those who never use even after pleading with sugar coated words-- 25% NEGATIVE

If you had not asked for stamps to be used beforehand then no use complaining...

But proper packaging is a MUST. Give a negative for it RIGHT away.

The seller doesn`t communicate properly.... This is what I do...

I mail him now telling I am about to give him NEGATIVE..... If he replies to that message..... It means he has been ignorant to my messages in past and responds now because his feedback his at stake....
I shall go forward with negative feedback..

If he doesn`t reply..... It means I will never buy from him again because he doesn`t treat buyers as they should be treated...... Again negative. :D :D ..

Lot of useful input here :) Problem is I'm kind of a nice guy, I never left negative before and what pisses me of is the no communication fact, could understand if this was 10.000 + feedback guy with fully ruining business at E-bay, but with his volume of sale he should definitely have a time for a buyer.

Other thing is packing, I send business mail, like documents in more aesthetic way, I haven't received such an carelessly packed package in 20 years and started mailing stamps as a kid. No one has to tell you what is proper way to pack stamps, or anything else. One has just to use common sense!

It's "common sense" to stamp people ---- I wonder if he is really knowledgable about stamps, or if he is just a "seller" selling items? I too am a "nice guy" and I don't like leaving negative feedback --- and I don't really think it does any good anyway ---but in this case I would. The price is fine, you agreed to it as you said, the packing is not (esp. for the price!) but what ticks me off the most is not communicating. I had this problem with a seller on Delcampe in the past few months. I paid and that was it ---- after 5 messages with no reply I just decided to "Blacklist" him. I waited 45 days thinking he may be ill or something, kept sending messages ----- nothing!

You come across some bad apples sometimes, just be happy that it was for a small amount of money.

A negative can also act as a wake-up call with a hopeful improvement of his service to future buyers

Just one tip - if you are also a seller on Ebay block him as a bidder

Just in case

Careless packing, no communication, offcours there could be something happening, but atleast the seller should have send you a mail later on telling so - do what you find best, perhaps a awakeup call is needed tho.

Early 2nd Reich and early 3rd Reich material MNH/postoffice fresh is the pricey ones, late 2nd and 3rd Reich comes by the bucket load MNH.

German collectors are guminsane, so MH will often be discarded.

Well I left neutrals with all problems summarized. Didn't want to give negative as I received stamps and most of them were OK, few MH play no roll since this are mostly low value items anyway.
Still no communication from seller side, hope he is not ill or something :?
