I actually "discovered" this stamp when I was 18, long before beer stamps were in Scott. Alas, I let another collector browbeat it out of me in a trade which in retrospect proved very one sided, much worse was that he became bored with stamps a few years later and sold them all. I continue to hope that the last 40 years have been very painful for him, but he can afford anything he wants so they probably have not been.

I found an unlisted (and undescribed) double impression of one of the printed 1898 surcharges in this sale; I made sure that a lifelong serious beer collector knew about it.
