This high value was issued during the interim period, during which time Bahawalpur was part of neither of the two Dominions created. The Amir acceded to the Dominion of Pakistan on 3 October 1947 and these overprinted stamps of India were then withdrawn.
As this stamp was in use only for a short period of a month and a half, between August 15 1947 and 3 October 1947, only 480 stamps of this high value were printed. It's extremely difficult to find an unmounted mint example of this stamp, such as this fine example on offer.
