Hi, Not sure if the image will appear, its on photobucket and I followed instructions.

This is the only stamp that I can't identify. Everything else I can find some sort of image the same or similar. Any help with this one is greatly appreciated. If the image is not there, I apologize and will have to try a few more times.

thanks!

Looks like Yugoslavia Scott # 3L49, a newspaper stamp from Slovenia, 1920. Catalog value 20 cents.

It is Jugoslav:

"Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes" (Serbian: Краљевина Срба, Хрвата и Словенаца / Kraljevina Srba, Hrvata i Slovenaca, Croatian: Kraljevina Srba, Hrvata i Slovenaca, Slovene: Kraljevina Srbov, Hrvatov in Slovencev) or Kingdom of SHS (Краљевина СХС / Kraljevina SHS) for short.

hey all! I have a stamp question. This one has some perforated holes - J.S.N
If I hold it to the light it clearly shows up JSN on the rear of the stamp, backward on the front of the stamp, perforated sideways in the middle, you can kind of see in the photo.

Just wondering what that is as I have not seen this before and can't find anything on google.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think its Austria/Germany, 5 Heller, with overprint and 1918? Hopefully my research skills are improving...

Thanks for your help...

You are correct. It is 5 Heller Green Austria, S.G 300 issued in 1918.

The perforated holes "J.S.N" would have been made by a Private Company who would have kept stamps in stock for Company mail. They were perforated with the Company intitals to prevent theft of stamps by employees for private use. This sort of thing used to be done all over the world by companies (and many Governments)

These are known as "private perfins". While generally frowned upon by many collectors, perfins do have small active dedicated groups who collect and study such things.

There is one very knowledgable guy who sells mainly perfins on Delcampe. At any point in time he has hundreds (and sometimes thousands) of perfins from various countries/private companies on sale.

You could contact him and find out if he is willing to help.

Hope this helps.

Thanks and regards.
