I know why the ones from Ten Ant Creek won't stick, they've got too much formic acid on the adhesive..

Ouch, that didn't hurt (much).

But, the same answer still applies regarding full gum in northern (equatorial) climes. Several countries eventually refused to issue gummed stamps in these climates because of the difficulties.

Yes the comment about not being P&S is correct, they all look fine, and I'm appreciating the comments. It just seemed strange that stamps of a similar age were acting so differerently.

Different climates affect gum differently.

I did a column for our newsletter recently, and the following sites were extremely helpful.....

The climate of Tennant Creek is less err equatorial and more dessert.
By mid afternoon on any day/month the humidity will be below 30% all year round. Sometimes sitting bellow 20% for months. Very dry.

They do get a bit of rainfall... for 2 months of the year.

Not much will rust out there.

Incidentally, is it only on Tuesdays that you are meeting at the Kilsyth Club? That's the one day in the week that I have commitments so cannot get there.

Cheers!

No matter what day, if you bake and bring the scones, jam and cream, then I will be there

Oh! how could I resist

"Would you like some iron oxide with your ice-cream?"

Dehydration occurs in low humidity...this also affects items which rely on moisture applications (i.e. gum).

Coober Pedy and Weipa are as close as I've been.

Coober Pedy blew the top off my thermometer (135°F in those days) ... and the locals were all rugged up in woolies coz they thought it was cold.

Short and late notice, but is anyone around down their to pick up boxs on Thu/Fri if someone ( :D ) happens to win a large load off ebay?

Needs at least a wagon by the looks of it.

Don't know for certain if I'll go for it, but planning to - you know the drill "lucky dip" if cheap, "don't bother" when price heading into bunny territory. At the moment its ridiculous, but it won't stay there.

It's exactly the wrong weekend for the GOMC to be around in Melb!

I'll make it worth your while.

The norton scam wagon came to my fake e-mail box, if I have to give a e-mail to on-line sales or request infomation I give my lycos address so that spam goes there. There were two messages, since I never use that e-mail for e-bay, norton or stampboards anything going there is spam or worse.

I deleated them, my norton does expire in 13 days which I will take care of shortly. If you get an e-mail adout any e-cards even if it is from someone you know DON'T answer it or open it for your drive will become slag.

::: Minutes of the afternoon meeting of the GOMC.:::
Waroff49 was sound asleep when Harry ( aka "the Silver fox" ) and Philanthropist arrived, to rouse him from his slumper.
Fercon Jerry arrived a bit later, apparantly both he and Harry were doubling up, after attending the morning meeting. Harry, NO-ONE is there at 8.00 am
Waroff49 had albums of Flight Covers and Trains to proffer for show'n'tell, Fercon Jerry had some rumours to pass on, and Waroff distributed some booty to all present ( except for this poor lonely old collector      ).
The famed 'Sir Philanthropist" displayed albums of Wesley FDCs and Registered Covers. :D :D :D and Zeppelin books.
Harry had his book of Registration Labels, so rather than purchase one from him, we headed off to the print shop after the meeting, Harry, Jerry with me in tow.
I purchased afternoon coffee for all present ( except Fercon Jerry    ) who I thought did not want one.
He repaid me by purchasing three coffees at the restaurant, just to make me feel guilty.   8) Fat Chance of that.
It was also suggested that the title "GOMC 1" should just be left in the locker, rather than rearrangeing the numbers of all the GOMC.
Any intelligent thoughts on that/ :?: :?: :?: Probably not from any who read this.
I did a back hand deal with Harry, Jerry did a back hand deal with Harry, and Waroff49 wont go for a smoke or leave early, ever again, unless he wants to continue missing out.
But he has other things on his mind, holidays, travel, Ebay, relatives and my laughter ringing in his ears.
Obviously  :?:  no scones and jam with cream.
The SEXCRATERY should write the minutes.

I think that to honour and respect any past members and in particular starting with #1 - membership numbers should be retired.

I certainly would never want to be called GOMC1.

Passing on the mantle of Pres, Sec, Tres etc is fine. Just not the number.

So proclaimeth GOMC16 :D

No.

Yes ... that's actually a statement, not a question.

Now you know why Philly is not the secretary, he makes up things as he goes along. He may have ordered the coffees at the club BUT he paid for them with mine and his FREE vouchers. The lovely young lady brought them to the table.

I had to get home early to try the new speed humps the council has now deemed we need, since our gutters and road surface have all been re-made.

The Ebay item is slowly climbing out of reach but will check again in the morning (later).

Waroff, let me know if you're topping out and don't mind if I bid if someone else goes past you. :D
It will probably get sniped anyway, but I'm watching with interest.
You did read the reply to a question he received? Heavy.

Your American, it's understandable. Have a valium.

Who wrote the book of love?
The French, but the Italian's will argue that point.

How do you spell 'Antidisestablishmentarianism'?
I have no idea, does it matter? Try Supercalafrag...whatever.

Fisherking,
The GOMC is not into prognostications about mental states. If it really matters to you. there are professionals who make a living from such things.
But on the other hand, Philly delves (on occasions) into such things but never with much success.

As for the spelling bee, our internal Polis has answered.

psuedopsuedohypoparathyroidism is a reasonable complaint or at least it was when I was training, last century.

Waroff is going to hate me but there was a snipe set in there from a couple of days ago, not mine, my only bid went past it with 5 seconds to go. I didn't think Waroff was going to go high enough. I hope (really hope) he wasn't the underbidder  . I hope (really hope) I just didn't toss $ down the gurggler. :D From what the seller described it looks good though.

I'll have to make it up to him.

If Philly and Waroff (?) could pick them up for me and I'll send the neddies down to post them here (app. $210) how about extra to cover for petrol, time and a couple of din-din's at Sophia's each with a red or two?

I'll take the conversation private from here and send Philly an email...

It's safe but whatever you do, don't let Philly near it....just ask Macgooley what happens and goldfinger and Walrus etc.

"Anto-oxidants". :?: :?: Anto-oxidents :?: :?:

That must be the stuff from Ten Ant Creek. Just across the paddock from Jacob's Creek.

Waroff is logged on at 4.30am? I hope he hasn't gone to sleep on the keyboard. Hi Bill. I'm glad you liked the dog photos.

Or is it the dents from too much ox blood flagoon type like in Cooktown. Maybe that was Monkeys blood.

Some of us have DSPS and can be on here at any odd time.

You won't find that in Google.

Well ... maybe now you will.

Hi guys,

Do any of you have used commercial or covers mailed from Great Britain mailed between 12-13 July 2007, 4-5 October 2007, 8-11 October 2007 and 29 June 2007 and 8 October to 28 October 2009, 24 June 2009. I am trying to find mail mailed during the 2007 and 2009 Great Britain postal strikes to add to the exhibit to get rid of the info only pages and include mail articles.

It might be a needle in a hay stack, but it is possible. Oh yea the postal strike exhibit won a multi-frame silver ribbon.

Philly, I've sent you and Waroff a message.
I think Waroff will be on his pilgrimage before the boxes can be picked up.

Douglas, sounds good with the ribbon! Well done.

Greg the Imposter..... you may have bought 7 boxes but by the time Philly has trolled it will be only 4, supplemented by 3 from his cover hoard.
You were correct in your assumption, I will be on a pilgrimage to outer Sinney early tomorrow.
Hope there's lots of goodies in the boxes, sounded good but went out of my range very quickly in the last 2 minutes.

Ah, I hand't thought of that! I might end up with 20,000 P&S on cover? Surely not, I trust my fellow grumpies. :D About as far a I could throw one.  :?:

I'll give you a buzz to see how you're travelling tomorrow. If you get into any strife near me, give me a call. :D

If your cutting through the newly sealed back road via Taralga/Oberon (the Tablelands Way), I can guide you to the right way out of town if you can't find the exit.

Enjoy the pilgrimage, burn a sausage, sink a beer and stay behind the lines on those lookouts!
