Yeah, it wasn't the ultimate bad weekend. The doggies did beat the Roos, which was pleasing after the hold they have had on us over the last few years.

And Hawthorn won again, so PeterS is feeling good.

Collingwood could also have lost, but Hell is only so large, and Carlton had already booked it for this weekend.
Went out for a drive early today to visit a local dealer and held in my hand a 1930 penny, plus two fakes ( one good enough to have fooled the dealer), then passed it into my left hand as I did not want to be accused of right hand favouritism
Have to be politically so correct these days, all the Hollywood stars a now "Actors" with no gender role for equality.
I loved the term "Actress"
So I just call some of them "Actors" and other just "Actors with tits."
Then off to the GOMC meeting, Waroff49, Harry and Jerry, followed briefly by Goldfinger and then by Phil the walrus.
Displays of some gold nuggets, coins, old Victorian lettercards, Counter-Printed Stamps, 1970 Anpex Forgeries and finally some plundering from the remanents of Mr Boggler's shop stock.
A carton of aerogrammes went home with the Silver Fox, after being picked over by Fercon Jerry.
I intend to move a motion at the next meeting that the Scottish members of Stamp Boards have to shout a round of drinks and a meal if they ever visit us.
The Sexcetary scuppered early before coffee to visit a doctor, which we understand was a pre-booked excuse for not buying the coffee this afternoon.
Perhaps a result of courting a young maiden last night.

In reply.......
I am now on the Officially Injured List (OIL), have to go for X-Rays to see if it will be 6 or 8 weeks ( unless I train hard and get it down to 2 weeks on the sidelines aka Ablett and others.)

Had a short hour and half chat with MacGooley about the tub of PSE's, she says some of the pictorials are really good and they should be in her collection. Anyway, she will be coming up to a GOMC meeting (in the next few weeks) at the Kilsyth Club. With some goodies for Philly (ahem...the secretary has to vet them first....)

As for the coffee, I gave mine to Phil the Walrus after his generous sales to my person- A FOOTSCRAY barred numeral from the Footscray City Town Clerk.(Nov.,5th,1906) and several Priority Paid timeclock datestamps..

And how are all you grumpy old buggers anyway?
(says a croaky voice emerging from a hiatus - gee that sounds like a nasty medical complaint that word! )

From the banter above, it appears as though nothing much has changed whilst I've been unavoidably detained for the past 6 months or so!
I see phillys as delightful as ever he was, (but dont tell him I actually really enjoyed talking with him on my visit over a while ago!)
And it sounds as tho the sexretary is up to his old tricks chasing skirt thru the suburbs again!

It is Waroff who collects the Footscray material,
but when he saw the start of my FOOTSCRAY collection yesterday, his eyes wept at the two Victorian stamps with Footscray cancels.
Send him the link.
But beware, he is oiled and on a SLIPPERY slope
or did she fight him off that savagely. Will have to await to read about it in the local paper; Feral Pages       or the train station supplement.
.
My lunch today?.. Why thank you for asking. :)
Quattro Gusto pizza ( Four Corners ) and a carafe of liquid, purely to wash away the taste, but from a different establishment to our normal hostelery ( a change is as good as a holiday in the sun on the Gold Coast - No, I did not believe that one either ).

That Footscray you showed me was a windup, but if you are going to get into Footscray, I know someone who has surplus stock of some postmarks at inflated rates. However he is still looking for Footscray postmarks to get a collection of different stamps with Footscray p/m's. Then there's always Footscray Park, Footscray North, Footscray (Ballarat Rd), Middle Footscray, F/Cray(Geelong Road), F/cray West and it's suburbs Seddon, Kingsville and the elusive Footscray Town Hall.

Now Collecting- Footscray, Williamstown, Kerang, Whytcheproof, Bendigo, Huntly, California Gully, Long Gully, Eaglehawk, Whitby,Wodonga, Avoca, Anglesea etc.

You are never going to find a "Whytcheproof".

Suggest you settle for "Wycheproof" instead. :D

To Muruk: Got to give the Spelling Polis something to do.

To Nom: Are you really THAT old?

To The Imposter: No he's gone because of the wind from Philly and Jerry ( and so are half the club Kilsyth patrons).

I revised my LGBT exhibit, the judge wanted tech data on all the stamps, but that would take away fron the story of the individuals, also I checked the new APS judges manual 6th edition and my exhibit meets all the requirements for social philatelity in the display division. I changed some things in my postal strike exhibit to make it better and found some stamps mailed during those strikes that did not have any stamps or auxillary markings.

They entered in the thematic division how do I get them to stop that? It don't fit in a thematic division only a display division. I met the requirements for a silver or better and my three frame again met the requirements, again how do I get the judges to place it in the correct division.

@Douglas, old boy, I sympathise, this seems to be a regular problem. Attack on two fronts.

Perhaps a flip chart type of cover with the details, in big bold type and go for the judges selection committee, there is always a committee

Out of curiosity, do your displays always get handled by the same person before the judges get to them? I am suggesting that there might be pen pusher in between who does not read the rules and having put them into a category once will continue to do so untill they get instructed to do otherwise.

Did you find out if there was anything of interest on the strike mail cd?

@muruk & waroff, did you manage to get the postcards from Ron before he passed? If not I can try and get another scout one from Youlbury(it's just up the hill) but the roo came back with us in the seventies.

@waroff, got a train rag in a sorter box, would it be of interest:- Railway Philately Vol44 No1 Dec 2009.

ps. That tpo fdc is still loitering with intent to emigrate.

Then I must send you my address for delivery, as poor old Waroff49 cannot carry the mail in from his letterbox whilst he is OILed, as he might SLIPPER on the slippery slope in his slippers.
   Chatting the other day to a lady walking a dog.
We got onto problems with possums, rats, vermin in general, some of it on two legs and feral.
They had a problem with rats, coming in from an untidy neighbour, and had complained several times to the local Council, but could get nothing done about it.
That is until the   idea struck home. Her husband caught and killed a rat, took it down to the council offices, and dumped it on the front desk.
"Now do you see what our problem is" he enquired over the shrill sceams and terrified staff running in all directions.
The Council had staff out there THAT afternoon.
Now, Mr Boggler would have loved t'at one

FEEBLE - I cannot remember receiving them. I will take any scout/train/airmail/exhibition/show material you want to send.
WHATEVER YOU DO.......DON'T send them to Philly. His house is the BLACK HOLE of stamps and covers, once they have entered they are never seen again.

Drat, I will enquire of the people at Youlbury, the thing with them is the sporadic attendence so it may take a while to find out if they have any more.

Let me know where you want them sent.

I am not sure who sets up the exhibits as I have to mail them in, and if I go to the judges selection committee won't that make the judges mad? I wish I could attend the shows and set up my own exhibits, but I can't.

Douglas, you are right, my bad, you should try the secretary or organiser first.

If you ask the question "What is the best way to get my exhibit into category x rather than y" I am sure you would get a positive reply.

Yeah things are far apart in the US.

Be well.

Doug,

I would make the gentle suggestion that you do a grammatical review of your presentation. If grammar is not your strength, have someone go over it and make corrections where necessary so you do not loose "presentation" points.

P.S. And don't ask Philly for help

I need to ask the GOMC's and others on stampboards a question; There are Australia States revenue stamps OP with "cattle" and "swine" the questions are,
1) Is there enough stamps for a one frame exhibit?
2)Are there covers or documents with these stamps on them?
3)Would they be worth the price to buy?
4)Do they have other animal types OP on the stamps?

Those in Australia let me know the answer, and others also chime in.

Yes
They are "Revenue" not postage, so should only be on documents, unlikely to ever appear on covers.
Barefoot is a Catalogue that lists these and would give you an idea of range of material, and prices, and a Stamp Boards member specialises in this type of material, and has links to his web site.

That must be one BIG hamster  I didn't know Australia had hamsters. Rodants running free make good targets to practice shooting skills. Do you know what PETA stands for? People eating Tasty Animals

Rodant is French for "prowling" ... did you mean "Road Ant"? We have some big-uns of them.

Or perhaps a rodant Road Ant?

Douglas, it's a John Cleese "Faulty Towers" reference. :D
Manuel buys a rat from a pet shop as the seller tell him it's a hampster.

As an aside, we do have water rats that are about the size of a normal otter.
My household rat is the normal mouse on steroids sort of size.

I have a chance to buy two covers that came from stamp shows held during postal strikes, the first was COLLECTOREX 1979 in Dublin, Ireland the other was 1970 SOJEX stamp show. I can't find anything on the internet about them. The covers will be a great edition to my postal strike exhibit, but I need any stampboards members help.

The SOJEX cover is signed by the show chairman Alfred Bew, I also can't find anything infomation on the man, so if any GOMC and stampboards members can help that would be great. I also need infomation on the stamp club that sponcored the 1970 SOJEX show.

Alfred R. Bew, as of 1971 resided in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He was the secretary (I believe of SOJEX). The acronym is for South Jersey Philatelic Exhibition held from 1936 to 1977, lastly inAtlantic City, NJ.

Footscray Road is a postal address in the City of Melbourne. Just south of Swamp Road (DYNON Rd.). Me no thinkin its a P.O.
(Indigenous Round).

Footy tipping back on track - 8 this week. I think Norm's cats should be skun and used for dim-sims. Peter's Hawks did well again and the doggies had a comfortable win (in the end). What a topsy-turvy season. Poor Philly's Demons........well the less said the better.

I was talking with an old school friend today, about getting older and the loss of our faculties.
He replied that it was a ridiculous Urban Myth, his hearing and sight were as good as ever.
Then he said "But, what was did you say your name was, again"?
