I was born on a Friday the 13th (Feb).
My mum always said I was due Valentines Day but came on the 13th so thats why I was such a little witch as a child, lol.

I am an Aquarian with my moon sign in Taurus
I was born in the year of the Rooster so I have all the stamp issues from when they commemorated the Year of the rooster
and my number in chinese numerology is 7 :D

Hi, Maggie,

9th September.

When I was 9 years old, I told everyone I was 9 on the 9th of the 9th. 8)

I wanted them to send me a Fire Engine, because in England, you phone 9-9-9 for the emergency services :)

Mine is the 1st of February.

I am an aquarian, born in the the year of the wood oxen. Or at least I think it was wood. They kept me boxed up for years so that I wooden't get into too much mischief.......just ask my two older sisters.
My jungle book name as a cub leader was RAMA. Everyone says" I go like a bull at a gate"- so it must be true. Other say,"I'm as subborn as an Ox?" I don't know what they mean

A little bit off topic, but I can't let it pass. FYI the great-great-great-great-grandfather of William the Conquerer was a Norwegian viking called Gange-Rolv (Rolv who walks). History tells he was so big that no horse could carry him - thus he had to walk besides it. He became enemy to the Norwegian king at the time and was expelled from the country. After a lot of not so nice acts he ended up in France, in Normandy, where he founded an earldom. Normandy is in fact named so after the arrival of the Norwegian vikings. Am I correct when I say that the English queen is a decendant of William the Conquerer - then .... I really need to check my ancestry.

MargotZ,

You have to be the one with the nice legs and PennyBlack1840 has the nice ...hair...I mean hair band (the crown looks like a really royal hair band if you look at it kind of blur - sorry the eyesight is not good of late - too many late nights on Stampboards.

Olavemil,

Happy many returns of the day - one day belated - hope not to forget the other birthdays. God bless and may you have many more birthdays to celebrate. Hey Olavemil, any chance of you showing some more scans of your stamps from Norway to celebrate the second birthday (the first being Harry's) on Stampboards.

Warmest regards and best wishes
Andrew and family

Thanks to all who remembered me - it pays off to advertize. :D

Came to think about it - you may have me a wee bit older down in Australia and New Zealand than I really am - 10 hours or so - didn't check it precicely. South Africa is on the same time Zone as myself i guess. Better head for South America or a nice tiny island in the Pacific - keeps me younger at least in hours if not in days.

But, 57 is history, heading steadily on for 58.

Kind regards
olavemil

Hi Repanidi
I must be thick but how come you have TWO birthdays? Did your mum try and send you back but you decided to face the world anyway?
Only joking.
My birthday is February 26th - seem to have forgotten in which year.

I really do have two birthdays.

When we migrated to Australia (skinny, runty, scrawny, underfed, etc. etc.) none of my siblings (or parents) had official dates of birth. No one issued these in small villages in civil-war-torn Greece. You were born, that was nice, someone may have written it down somewhere, somehow.

My parents remembered all their children's dates of birth; however, when it came time for us to fill out the documentation in Athens, my parents were too unwell to attend the meeting. The migration officials took one look at us (as I said before, skinny and malnutritioned), and rather than knock back our applications due to parental non attendance, gave us arbitrary dates of birth - which in all cases was at least one and half years different from our real ages.

That was where the rot set in. Because, this my stamping friend, was the VERY FIRST OFFICIAL DOCUMENT IN WHICH WE HAD A DATE OF BIRTH RECORDED.

Then we applied for passports. And what date went on the passport??? Yep you guessed it.

Then after some years we applied for Naturalisation.... and what do you think was the date on the Naturalisation certificate???

Add to that Drivers Licence, Medicare, MBF, Teachers REgistration, etc. etc... and then with the computer age, Telstra, Ergon Energy, banks etc, all identify you from your date of birth. ... and all my official documentation had the incorrect date of birth.

So there we were, all our lives celebrating our birthday on one day (in a different year too), while the world officially recognised another date.

A few years ago, I had enough of it...

(because I was pulled up for speeding and didnt have my drivers licence with me - and when asked my date of birth, I was so nervous, I automatically gave my REAL one. I wont even begin to tell you how I tried to explain that one to the magistrate!!!!! )

I'd had enough, so I lobbied Philip Ruddock (then MInister for MIgration) to set it right. Could I please, please, PLEASE have my real birthday back. To cut a long story short - he said No. Well, not unless I could provide official documentation regarding my real date of birth. And we all know that story now.

So, for a number of years I celebrated BOTH my dates of birth. It was great. Birthday dinners, presents.... ahh, those were the days.... And then my own family jacked up on me. Choose, they said. You cant have TWO birthdays.

What was a person to do? So, I chose the official one. Now I dont know which star sign I really am, so I read both, and decide on the one I like best.

Epilogue:
On a recent trip back to the village, we found some old church records on our births.... and .... Neither of my birth dates are right. Church had me down for being baptised long before my mother thought I was born.

If you think this is a long sad story, spare a thought for my brother... not only was he given a different date of birth, but when we arrived in Australia and had to go to school, the nuns couldnt/wouldnt pronounce Dimitri.. so they said he would be called Jim from then on. And Jim he still is!

The part of this story though that concerns me most, is that after I decided to stick to ONE d.o.b., I had to ring around to those institutions which had me down for the other d.o.b. and, NOT ONE SINGLE PLACE... NOT ONE.... asked for verification, proof, stat dec, or anything as to who I was, and why I was changing my date of birth. They just simply asked me what to change it to. Now, that's scary.

and this is a very long post. Sorry. Got carried away.

Hi Repanidi
Thanks so much for your last post with details of your 2 birthdays. What a trauma for you all those years fighting beauracracy. I can empathise as having arrived from the UK as an assisted migrant in 1960 I had no papers to show that I had arrived officially. All ok, was retrenched at 60 and went onto a mature aged allowance (pension from Centrelink). This I received until I was 65 at which time I was to be transferred to the aged pension. Horror, Horror, I was told - no pension unless I could produce documentation showing that I was a legal immigrant. This despite the fact that I was alredy receiving an approved pension from centrelink and that I had been accepted to work as a polling booth official. Glad to say that I did convince the beauracrats of my ligitimacy (birth also) and continue to receive a pension which allows me to buy the occasional stamp or two.

Repanidi,

That was a very interesting story and so the mystery of the two birthdays has been solved. I can imagine the frustrating moments in simply trying to get things right, and you have a lot of obstacles in the way.

Anyway, in Malaysia there have been parents, through ignorance or because of illiteracy, simply do not even register their children and they later on have problems registering for school, work, etc. Our ministers have done a good job helping some of these cases.

Ripanidi, great story.

My father has two birthdays, too. He grew up with an 11th May birthday (ten months after his parents were married.) On his eighteenth birthday, his father called him up and wished him happy birthday on 11th March. "It's not my birthday," said my father.

"Yes, it is," said his father.

You do the math.

And sisters, let me join you: 11th December (year of the horse) for me!

There you go Clanmackay....Pennyblack is 12 Dec and I'm 11th too......this is getting spooky. Maybe we should start a Sagittarians only thread?
