An alert was posted today at work stating that an email said to be from Australia Post is doing the rounds at work and the email contains a virus in an attachment.

It appears to be a 'good one' as the alert states that it has disabled the computers of the people opening the attachment.

The suggestion is delete immediately.

There must be a flurry of spammers trying all sorts of company names at the moment.
I've never seen so much activity!

I have spam / hacker emails from:
Commonwealth Bank (No that's not my bank),
TNT
Certain Dr.s
Australia Post
ANZ
PayPal
DHL
some UK finance company
and the usual "I have 100 billion dollars to share with" all my unknown friends!

Thankfully they all plop into my junk mail folder.

The dangerous to the unwary ones use all the right logo's and colours and at a glance appear convicing.

But they nearly all have big bold capitals with "act now", "hurry urgent", "there is a problem with your account" and one idiot just had FYI.

At least the add for little blue pills that do wonders have dropped off.

Are they the ones masquerading as a magnifying glass?

I reformatted my computer over the weekend - it had suffered a coronary - and whether it's because of that or something else I don't know, but my spam folder has been empty ever since. I kinda miss learning how to make a million bucks in a half-hour (co-incidentally, straight after a 'notices pending' from FB); the 'little blue pills' ( co-incidentally, straight after notices from a major international auction site), and all the others that piggy-back in.

Gee, I'm lonely - NOT!

I just heard a mention of this email on 3AW (Melbourne's biggest talk back radio station).

Australia Post are aware of the email and have confirmed it contains a virus. You don't hear computer viruses mentioned in the media much these days, so, as I mentioned in the opening post, it must be a good one.

You have been warned.
