Hi all,
I have been a "collect whatever I get" collector and am still the same.
Just decided to have a thematic collection and thought let me start with my own nation..
I seperated all the India stamps I had and found that I am just beginning to realise how little I have acheived.
Also I saw that very few thematic collectors, collect India as a theme... It is just because getting a 1947-2010 collection is very easy.... Even during swaps, I have seen a few remark... NO.... I DO NOT WANT INDIA STAMPS...

Others` loss is my gain... I thought let me present my wantlist to fellow members who have Indian stamps just sitting idle in their collection who are willing to swap them for something they wish... Here are a few of my wishlists... Do feel free to contact me regarding anything you have to offer from Post Independence India to help in my collection.... duplicates... mint.... used.....and even damaged (as long as they can be space fillers)!!!

How many... what you want in exchange... that could be negotiated :) ..

Even if you have any stamps not out of my wantlist but of no use to you I am ready to swap for them... I have posted a few images now and a LOT more coming..

Thanks in advance..

P.S- I do not intend to buy from anyone.. I want to take this slowly and build it as it comes...

There are a few high value stamps in the scans... for example.... THIS ONE....

Image

I know it and I have not thought even in my wildest dreams to hear some one say.... Hi... I have a duplicate of this... Do you want it???  ...

These scans show just those which are not in my collection.... Let the gems rest in peace and wait for their turn in future when I could afford to buy them

I have quite a few of these duplicated but it depends on what condition you after. Are you only after UMM or do you want used?

Anything is okay for me... No hard and fast rules as of now :).

I prefer used over MNH just because of financial constraints and due to the climate over here which makes it even more difficult to preserve mint stamps.

used stamps of India from year 2000 onwards is hard to find, as they were rarely found used, mainly because of decrease in the habit of writing letters after the technology of cellphones, e-mail, and sending letters through privater couriers, and use of franking meters for bulk mail.

I can provide many stamps from your want list, I shall exchange if you have anything for me on my topics - ships, boats, submarines, navy, explorers, etc.,

Ok, I'm brand new to this site & I know that I have to wait 20/20.

However, I am looking to rehome lots of stamps - including the few india stamps I've found so far (I have a fair few boxes worth of stamps that have been thoroughly neglected)

So, when I can swap, would you like these:
Image
(large: dated, 1977. Small: no date, haven't a look online)

I'm only collecting stamps with flowers on, I'm not fussy & they can be cheap as chips stamps. (:

Hi Natalie, welcome... The one in the left was issued on 32nd International Homeopathic Conference, New Delhi... The one shown is Dr. Samuel Hahnermann- founder of Homeopathy.

The one in left is a definitive and is about the theme of eradicating polio. I have both so thought let me tell something about both of them.

Keep searching and if you have any from my wantlist, I am ready to swap them for flower stamps. Hope you reach 20/20 by then..

bsward- I got your cover today and thanks for those missing gems which you gave me.. I hope my cover reaches you soon...

Voyager- I am putting together a few stamps on ships.. I shall mail you the scans soon :) ..

Due to help from board members and my purchases of singles (delcampe, ebay, kiloware etc.) my wantlists are fast filling up... It is again the years 1989-2003 that is proving to be difficult to find... If anybody can help, eagerly awaiting...

From 1947-1970 these are the only ones I miss... All others I have...

Thank you

P.S- I have no preference.. MNH would be great.... USED is fine too..

Always nice to find things out about stamps. (:

I'm still only beginning to go through my boxes of stamps - I'll keep an eye out for any more from India!

Hi Drvvr,

I have some duplicates of the stamps you are looking for. I just started putting together and mounting my India collection as well. Perhaps we could swap some stamps that I don't have and you do.

Will email you the list of stamps that I have from your wantlist.

Regards
Ram

Be very careful especially with solicitations from India offering to fill your wants.

There is an especially active network of philatelic scammers in Tamil Nadu state operating right now. The will only want the high value items from your have list or offer to sell you stamps for "banknotes". I know of four collectors that have been "had" of varying amounts.

Demand references, scans, and cell pics. Avoid anyone that will not provide them.

Be wary of an email from one name and a shipping address to another.

Use common sense.

Naming "alleged" scam artists might not be legal. Therefore I will not post them.

My post should be warning enough, the info is from several sources.

The worst fear is the root of the crime may be the philatelic dealing community, as the scammers could merely be a procurement vehicle.

May I know why was this posted in my wants thread?????

If you have been scammed by someone and IF you are damn sure of the name GO ahead and name and shame them.

IT is perfectly LEGAL.... IF you can prove.

Stop derailing this thread.

Start a new thread if you wish and name and shame the cheaters..

As a person from the area you are complaining about I might be able to help you even trace them or to throw more light upon what you say..

I remember seeing some used stamps of India for sale at Sapna Book Stall here in Blore. Please look up the Book Stall in Chennai and they may be having. The stamps were about 300 in numbers and all used. Could not see all of them as they were displayed on a stand. The price was about Rs 1850/- of thereabouts, not so sure now, saw it about six months back.
