Brian ... due to an interesting twist of fate an American stampboards member has in essence donated a box of VERY saleable stamp goodies for your charity sale.

They are in the Registered mail to you today!

Glen

Thanks Glen

Maybe you can email me details of the donor so that I can acknowledge?

All in all a most generous response from Stampboard members. :P :P :P :P

Brian .. he may not want to be acknowledged .. I am not sure, but have passed this thread on, if he does wish to take credit for his generous donation.

A great array of donated material from our members below - they have done themselves proud - thanks for taking the time to find it a good home, and raise some dollars for a most worthy Charity. :D

Thanks Glen, parcel arrived safely and will be presented at our fundraiser next week.

Thanks to our US based member who most generously donated $230 of very saleable material via Glen this week.

On behalf of St. Vincent de Paul I'd like to thank him and all other members for their most generous support to this fund-raiser.

Glad to see the box arrived Brian, and a reminder to members it is not too late to add to the fundraiser!

Quote:

The Campbelltown District Philatelic Society will be holding its annual Christmas Charity auction on Wednesday 12th December.

We are looking for donations of collectables in good condition to auction to raise money for our local branch of St Vincent de Paul Society.

Items such as cigarette cards, tazos, coins, stamps, olympic pins, matchbox labels etc. would be suitable.

If anyone would care to attend our meeting to be held at:
The St Thomas More Catholic Church Hall, Acacia Street, Ruse (near Campbelltown), they will be made most welcome.

If you are unable to attend but would like to donate something for the auction item/s may be mailed to me at 31 Edgar Street Macquarie Fields 2564 or to the club at CDPS, PO Box 478. Campbelltown NSW, 2560.

I will personally acknowledge receipt of any items and proceeds raised via this thread.

The St Vincent de Paul Society is the welfare arm of the Catholic Church who provide us with our meeting venue.

The Society mostly run by volunteers provides assistance to people in need with the local branch using our donated funds to provide emergency food parcels over the Christmas Period.

If you can assist in some way another needy person can be helped.

Brian

This lot of Canada will be in the post tomorrow for your auction

Thanks Sherro - parcel arrived safe and sound today together with bonus items.

Depending on the number of bums on seats and in order to do justice to ALL of the items so generously donated I may decide to hold back some items and hold another fundraiser closer to Easter. Either way I will post details on this thread on December 13th.

Hi Peter - parcel received today via Vinnies - many many thanks for donation including 1d black.

Australia Post have done it again and placed their unnecessary sticker over EVERY stamp.

Still waiting for reply from AP's Philatelic Guru (manager)

What a shame.

Had dinner with Noel last week with some other dealers, and raised this matter.

He is looking at how he can supply stamps in such cases, and was keen to work on it. He reads stamboards each day it seems. :)

Hi Brian,

That's heartbreaking    , it even looks as though Royal Mail have added a couple of nice clear cancellations that would have made these into a lovely used set.

I'm glad they arrived in time for the auction - hope all goes well and lots of money is raised for a very worthwhile cause.

Peter

PS Not sure if I mentioned it but the Harry Potter presentation pack has a mini sheet at the back too.

I'm sure somebody will post "where else would they put the label, there's no room!".

Well, until someone proves to me otherwise, the Royal Mail registered label is sufficient!!!. There is no requirement for an AP label that simply duplicates the barcode.

Butchery.

Read that Noel??????

Thanks Sherro
I am still waiting for the courtesy of a reply and return of two covers showing the same duplication of instructions with stickers unecessarily affixed by Australia Post taking out most of the stamps which are obviously intended for a collector by way of the number of stamps used, many of which are not current issues.

Glen says that he and other dealers had lunch with Noel recently, I can only hope that someone can educate him what we collectors expect from AP so that he can duly instruct his staff accordingly.
I do have it in writing from Noel himself that he sanctions the biro and texta marks to render uncancelled stamps unuseable.

With that approach, what hope have we got. Surely the Post Office stamp cancelling machinery is not that inefficient that there is a mammoth loss of revenue due a few envelopes/parcels slipping through the system.

As I have said before - "Beauracracy gone mad"

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU[/size]

Last night The Campbelltown Stamp Club held it's Charity Auction to raise money for St Vincent de Paul Society. We would liked to have had more members and guests present however, a fun night was enjoyed by all.

We raised around $650 on the night with in excess of half of the proceeds coming from the sale of items so kindly donated by
Stampboard members. The star of the night was the $100 paid for the 1d black.

I am now the proud owner of the Volcano cd and the early Canada selection among other items.

I truly would like to have raised more money for the cause and, subject to Glen's approval, may take up a suggestion by one of the board members to offer items that have been donated; via this board in the form of a timed auction.

I would post images of the items and record bids etc. More on this in the New Year.

This has been a wonderful experience showing the generosity of those who belong to the Stampboards club - a group of friendly and supportive philatelists.

As a result of your support someone in need has been assisted through St Vincent de Paul

Thanks again - Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.

Brian

Sensational result Brian. :D :D :D

Glad folks less fortunate than ALL of us have gained something at Christmas time from STAMPS! $650 is a very welcome boost to the Vinnies pot I am sure. :D

Many thanks to all the members who donated to this excellent cause.

Any overage sure -- run for sale here to the best price, or offer at a future club sale if that is permitted there. Whatever you judge might

I am sure all members just want their donated stamps go to your excellent cause at some point.

Glen

Any little contribution to those less fortunate is a win for everyone. I'm prepared to donate to this every year/half year/month if Brian asks.

But a plea to all. Don't make this your only donation this year  If we can afford to spend money on little pieces of paper, we can help other humans have enough food today.

Brian,

Congratulations on your sale, a great result for SVdP and I'm sure many members of the CDPS have got some stamps to examine during their Christmas holidays, so everyone is a winner :D

Hi Sherro: ditto for me

If I have some stamps I don't want that look interesting, I have offered them here with the request for an appropriate donation to a charity:

1 I am relieved of the items
2 The recipient has something they appreciate that I don't
3 A community service organisation gets a little more to keep up the good work

All benefits due to this Board.

Brilliant.

glad it went well

if other items from/for the charity auction went up here Id be more than interested in having a look - was thinking as I was reading pity we couldnt bid to help out proceedings

plus helping a good cause would be a good rationalisation to buy some stamps!

all the best
Kris
