I just got the new Willie Nelson album. It is titled "Country Music" and it is very good. Willie goes back to the

roots of country, with some some fantastic musicianship. A $9.99 well spent from itunes! Now, where did I put

that pack of ZigZags....

Take it easy,

Hey Skilo - Have you heard "Papa is a worried man"? It's with Willie Nelson and one other singer, forgotten his name.

Dub Reggae at the moment for me - the sound of a looooong hot summer.

In particular, various tracks from King Tubby, Badoo and Delroy Wilson, and a "best of" Ini Kamoze album.

Yeah, Mon 8)

Right now I am listening to a new version of the classic Guns N' Roses song Paradise City, where Slash has teamed up with Cypress Hill and Fergie from Black Eyed Peas. Not near the original of course, but it is much better than you would expect.

Now the soundtrack to the latest Sherlock Holmes movie, which was composed by the well-known Hans Zimmer. He also did the music for Pirates of the Caribbean.

One of the very very finest Canadian singers, Sarah
McLachlan; I could listen days on end. A sample:

Sarah McLachlan - I agree entirely. Saw her live once and my heart throbbed (my wife kept hold of my leash). Try the Waillin' Jennies (Jennys?) for another Canadian fix. Currently they're cued along with Gypsy Soul.

I just picked up a bunch of CD's to replace some old cassettes that I have'nt played in a long time. (I never did hook up the tape deck when I moved here two years ago.)

Guess Who
Bachman Turner Overdrive
Byrds
Buddy Holly
Chicago
Keith Hampshire

I've heard there are ways to download free music. Now that I have this iPod thingie, can anybody offer some suggestions?

Might I suggest that this should be an entirely new
thread, destined to have hundreds of sources, ideas,
and suggestions?

One of the keys is, what file format do I want to put
my free music in? And (I don't know) can music recorded
or downloaded in the U.S. be played on Australian gear,
i.e., analogous to the VHS tape problem?

Hi Mike :)

I can help you, no problem.
I have loads and loads of music in itunes, and I could load up a USB stick with music you like and mail it to you. Please email me if you would be interested in my offer, from one Canadian to another :D

If I was looking for a great way to find free music, I would be inclined to type "pirate" followed by "bay" with no space between the words in Google, IMHO one of the finest sources, never a problem with viruses or other crapola

Have a Good One :D

Fleetwood Mac
Genesis
Kansas
Heart
Moody Blues

unless I am playing poker at the same time, then it is usually The Police.

Confessions:

LONG, Long, long ago:

I thought Procol Harum was a person, a guy with a singing
group.

I thought Jethro Tull was a person, a guy with a singing
group. (other than his historical counterpart)

Fortunately, I never thought Pink Floyd was a person.

I thought marshmallows grew on little bushes and were
simply "picked" when ripe (this, due to possible confusion
from seeing cotton growing down South, age 6).

I didn't forget! :) I just don't have a cd of hers. Great song! At this moment...my stamps and my cd player is in one room and my computer and tv...where I also play music...is in another room.

Thanks to you though, I can hear this song whenever I am on the forums or playing poker. At home and at work!

Chris du Burgh is one of my favorites especially his 'non-commercial' songs. Loved his concert in Toronto. My daughter made sure I took her to it as she was brought up on his music. Thank you for making me realize that I haven't unpacked 90% of my music yet and 2-3 of his cds are still sitting in a box.

Can I help it if I unpacked the stamps first and my clothes and cds are still packed? :?:

Even worse...I moved last October!!!!!!!!!! :(

I am not going to mention the boxes in the kitchen or the bathroom at this time.

I seem to be enjoying soundtracks lately. Two I'm listening to at the moment are from O, Brother Where Art Thou? and The Lord of the Rings

Well, we moved about 2 years ago, and then again one year ago. We still have a few things in boxes, partly because we've downsized....! (I told 'em we needed a yard big enough to hit a 6 without loosing the ball! )

Sunset by Kate Bush. Gloriously sunny from her Aerial album.

....Who knows who wrote that song of Summer
That blackbirds sing at dusk
This is a song of colour
Where sands sing in crimson, red and rust
Then climb into bed and turn to dust....

mmhh, yes!
