Prompted by Skilo's plea for help on another thread I thought to add this block.

Top row left has a mark in the border to the right value tablet. Bottom row left has a mark in the left value tablet.

"fingerprint" variety, illustrated on P78 of
"The Stamps of Victoria" (Kellow)
The fingerprint is the blotched area above "TWO", someone put
their grubby finger on the unit or plate.

From an ebay mixture lot earlier in the year, noticed it in the scan after I had won it :)

Hi!

I just found the same flaw! Is it priced somehow?

And I found three more striking flaws on the same issue, but I don`t know if they are constant!

Any information welcome!

Hey Josto! I can definitely help you on this one, here is the 2009 Unitrade listing for this stamp. It seems like you have found some other errors not listed here. Your second stamp is really interesting and also has what looks to be the starting of the damaged "E" in James (ix), but I do not have any specialized material for this issue, so hesitate to comment any further.

Image

I hope this helps!

Have a Good One, :D

Well, since I'm here........... and I've decided to post past #1234

I would like to present this Portugese stamp, with a significant vertical shift. Is this enough of a shift to be considered an error? Any feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks!

No prices for used- mtd mint 200£. I would estimate a cat. price for used about 80- 100£. The most used flaws are about the half of mtd mint prices. You want to sell?

A couple of errors on the stones of the Bundi Daggers, with the normals for comparison, for the odd reader who may not be familiar with these stamps:

SG 2 and 2a (Value at top, name below, the dagger)

Image

and SG 3 and 3a (last two letters of value below the rest)

Nice unhinged strip of 3 New Zealand Dominion 1909's which I think are
SG 408 and 408a

Top stamp is 'no watermark', middle stamp is 'Letter' watermark and bottom stamp is 'sideways W43' watermark.
I can see something on top stamp which looks like watermark on the scan but does not appear under light as the other 2 stamp watermarks do.

Nice to have all 3 variations together.

Hi. These three images are all Northern Rhodesia SG 61. They came from the same source. When you look closely at them they look different, for example the Queen's eyes and lips, the elephant's eye and the giraffe's markings.

ImageImageImage

Are they flaws or variations or nothing at all? I know they are not valuable or spectacular but I'm interested in what constitutes a flaw or variation.

Thanks, Simon.

Simon,

"Show us your Plate varieties Flaws or Errors" is the current Thread, found using SEARCH function, that WILL ASSIST on Topic. A flaw or variety can occurs to a few stamps per sheet due to Damage, Metal, Paper or Foreign body being stuck, jammed etc to the Die. IMO.

Here's one from the GB 1929 PUC issue.

It's Ncom7e "Blob on 1 of 1929" Plate 6 R19/1

Interestingly it also has watermark inverted.

GB KGV 1d. Royal Cypher - Control C12 -
Philatelic Plate 6a (Thanks Mike J :) ) - White line/crack on 'N' of "ONE"

Hi folks, :D

Does anyone out there have a similar flaw on a GB KGV 1d.? I am trying to confirm that this flaw is indeed a plate flaw and not a one time irregularity.

I appreciate your help and Thank-you for your time!

Have a Good One,

Here is one that I just picked from an estate I'm working on:

SC#C95 Brazil airmail with the top part of the background design missing - along with a regular issue.

Close inspection shows no sign of adhesion or other "adjustment".

My Scott catalogue doesn't have any plate flaws listed, and my local library has a horrible selection of reference issues. I would be grateful if anyone can give me info on if this is listed anywhere, and if so, what the value would be in a block of 4. (An email would be fine, if the conversation shouldn't happen in this thread. :? )

Thank you and Happy Holidays,
Kristine

On the first stamp, there is a small loop to the bottom right hand side of the crown. On the second there is a small dot on the top right between the R and the G.
