OK, I found what I could - why is it whenever you look for something you can NEVER find it! I have another couple but a little smaller like the Bayerische one and a few others....Oh well.

I also included some Aussie stamp duty ones etc etc as I couldn't find them in my stamp catalogue...any clues to an era (I estimate the 20's & 30's as that is what is on a couple of them) or a web site to look them up would be appreciated.

(I included the other postings so you don't have to keep scrolling up and down)

And yes I know they're tatty but there mine....

These are very attractive!

They look to me like some kind of charity label for a Women's home ("Frauen" = Women). Literally, "Wohlfahrtsmarke" translates as "Humanitarian Relief Stamps"

The address of the home is given as 4, Augustinestrasse, Munich (ie. Munchen)

The artwork suggests early 20th Century to me, but wouldn't like to be more specific than that.

Presumably they were sold to raise funds for the support and maintenance of the home.

To anyone who is considering the "needle in a haystack" approach to acquiring a set of these. It took me 15 years to get my set one by one, which now had pride of place in my collection.

Just to make things more difficulot there are two varieties of the Half penny stamp, the more common one being inscribed "Half Penny", the other one "Half Pence" and there are probably no more than a couple of these.

My guess is there are probably no more than about 10 sets of the four stamps available plus a few odd singles, and there is definitely only one cover.

What a mix of odd items.

I'll tackle the Aussie ones, Queensland duty stamps, King Edward VII which dates them to the early 1900s and one later, Customs Duty around the late 1930s, and postage dues, the 2d is an early one possibly early 1920s the other two much later, around the 1950s.

There is one NSW postage stamp, top right of pics and the other is a common NSW 2d duty stamp, bottom left of pic.

I noticed the AAS "Angel" among them too, but you got a bite on that one as you did with those large German labels, as for the rest.... over to whoever else wants to have a go!

I agree with you on the one (Echuca) cover. Allan Levy sold that for a fortune at Feldman''s - $15,000 in 1992.

The 2 x 'Half Pence' error tallies with my comments.

And yes I often see singles offered of the normal set and agree piecing a set together that way is a tough ask!

The 2 x "used" copies I found 20 years back I have never seen offered since. The 3d of those 2 that Hornadge illustrates in his handbook was a pretty decent looking stamp actually!

Very nice, and increasingly difficult to find...

...incidentally, if you ever see one of these (I think it's either the Kiautschou or Marsall Islands one) with the name obliterated in blue pencil, don't ignore it. Someone once told me it was to do with a change in alliances and Germany no longer considered that as a "lost" colony as it was now under Japanese sovereignship.

Sorry there's only half a story there, but hopefully someone will be able to fill in the rest...

As I've previously admitted, I'm only new to stamp collecting and picked these and other stamps up at an Op Shop.
Only having an Australian Stamp Catalogue, none of these were in it, so I was confused to say the least where some of them came from.

There were some "official" Nazi Propaganda stamps produced for "psyops" purposes during the war, but I've never seen this one before...

...perhaps purely a "phantasy", but what a great item

These are miniature sheets, which would have been valid for postage, so not strictly Cinderellas.

The top one is from Albania ("Shqiperia" in the name of the country in their own language).

The bottom one for Ajman, which was part of what was called "Trucial States" in the 60s/70s. Now part of the United Arab Emirates. These places issued many stamps/sheets at that time which a lot of the catalogues say were issued in excess of postal requirements. That said, they did get used, and are quite rare on cover.

once agin thanks gavin!!!! I was finding it hard to get the meaning of Shqiperia and I had already seen in the SG cats the info about Ajman and such. They don't list any value so does that mean that they only have value on covers?

SG doesn't list things that they don't stock or sell. Other catalogues such as Michel (which is German, but publishes catalogues covering all parts of the world) will list values for these stamps. Not sure about Scott - perhaps some of our American readers could help...

If you like this sort of stamps (and you're lucky), you'll find some dealers who sell them cheaply because they are unpriced in the catalgoues they use. However, some of these issues are quite scarce, and I believe are becoming increasingly collectable.

Many were thematics on the subjects of paintings, animals, space, sports etc and are finding their way into thematic collections as collecting by theme becomes more popular.

As far as covers are concerned, they WERE used, often by the Philatelic Bureaux and other Government Agencies within the State, and they are VERY scarce (think hens' teeth, rocking horse poo - that kind of rare!!!).

Also, as most are seen Cancelled to Order (with that neat circular cancel and still with original gum), mint ones can be quite difficult to find.

Weighing in at approximately 11 grams and made of 99.9% fine silver, it makes a splendid edition to and compliments my humble collection of philatelic history.
After many fruitless attempts to apply saliva to the reverse - I realised the entire area was completely void of gum. Thus, I embraced the situation and made it my duty to inform the relevent authority, of the apparent barrenness of the area in question which was intended to accomodate the adhesive substance. The fellow I conversed with on this subject matter, was rather charming - but unfortunately, the information he conveyed to oneself was contrary to ones original opinion. Hence, I have failed to utilise this philatelic item as a postage paid device.
All members are invited to express comments and/or opinions regarding the afore mentioned incidental.

Here is a New Zealand WW11 Cinderella
Unperforated due to the pressure of time
They came in many colours and were cut as singles
from the gummed sheet and stuck on letters .

They had time to print "Unperforated due to pressure of time", but not to perforate

Yeah sherro it was a bit of a time management problem.
We had 6 o'clock closing back then
The guys needed to get to the pub.
Do the perfs or go and get pissed.
There must have been an Aussie worker leading them astray

Bob .. this one makes a nice match. I like the COLOUR of this one better. FULL size of the issued stamp, which of course is huge.

In my next list at $50 ... the PO sold them for $97 a decade or so back.

Did a bit of googling and from what I came up with it is Danish.

Thought I might as well add a German Cinder - also a recent addition.

I am not sure about the first sets origins, only that they are German. The next lot, no idea. The last ones: The large one is Rocket Mail, the other pair, I don't know!

Top Scan: "Rheinland und Ruhrgebiet in Rot": Rheinland and the Ruhr valley are heavily industrialised areas in Western Germany - as these designs show. "In Rot" = "In Red", which would imply to me that these were some kind of Socialist Propaganda - perhaps celebrating an election victory or extolling the locals to vote for the "Reds"?. They look Post-WW1, 1920s, which would fit with the Weimar Republic and a time of "revolution" in Germany. Nice set

Middle Scan: The first 2 have a value in "h", which would be "Heller", hence Austria rather than Germany. Those and the 3rd are probably local/private delivery late C19th. The last one in this scan is Spanish or Spanish Colonies.

Bottom Scan: Nice Rocket Mail stamp . The pair are for "Humanitarian Relief" - probably Bavaria?

Hopefully some of our Cinderella experts can fill in the gaps...
