So I take it you won't be coming to the Lytham St Annes Stamp Fair then?

Good luck with your event

Jeez, I'm glad I clarified this with the President before telling you what I thought it is .... here's his reply:

A cent sale at most open days is a raffle system whereby participants
buy sheets of numbers (I think that there is 30 - 40 dockets per sheet
with one being retained as an identifier and one special number for the
major prize - most times a fruit tray/basket). All numbers on each sheet
are the same. The sheets are broken up and one or more dockets is placed
in a container for each prize (some 20-30 normally). The special number
docket is handled the same way except it is placed in a container for
the special lot. The identifier is retained by the purchaser together
with those from any other sheets that may have been purchased. The
prizes are generally buckets/containers of mixed items that have been
donated by members/sponsors for the day and include books magazines
stamps envelopes wines food stuffs toys plants etc. The sheets generally
are sold at $1 each (hence the name cent sale as originally I gather
there were 100 dockets per sheet ie 1 cent each) Normally each purchaser
buys say 5 sheets of different numbers. Throughout the day then say 3-5
containers have one number drawn out randomly to achieve the winner of
that lot. Its generally a bit of fun at low expense and achieves a
reasonable amount of profit for the club concerned as everything is
mostly donated.

Just one week to go to the annual Stamp Day.

Still some accommodation left in town, but you'll need to be quick!
