Hello;
Here are my picks for Round 2.

St. Kilda
N. Melbourne
W.C.E.
Carlton
Geelong Cats
W. Bulldogs
Sydney Swans
Melbourne

Since I live a long way from AFL land, I've thought up a new way to pick winners. Get a map of the Land Down Under, push a pin through the middle, mount it on the wall and spin it. Then throw 8 darts at the moving target. The teams closest to the dart holes will be the winners.
The only problems that I can think of with this method are 1) it might scratch the wall, and 2) it damages an otherwise nice map!

Why not get Harry Potter to give you a hand. 8)

Even he might have trouble with your method as half the team are from Melbourne suburbs.

On the other hand you could be daring like most of us and just pretend to know something about the game.

Just over five hours to go before tips close. BTW, the Boards were color coded at different times today. Unravel the code and you will get all 8 winners.

OK John, just to note, anybody who tips twice the later tip becomes the official one.

But of course the Cats will win (even without Scarlett) so you just cost yourself a point. :D

GO CATTERS

After last weeks dismal effort. Here my picks.

Did you know, I have never tipped more than 4 in the first two round ever, and I have been doing a few tipping comps over the years.

Saints
Pies
Port
Carlton
Freo
Bulldogs
Essendon
Hawks

Have anyone tipped the Gold Coast?

I looked at the tips earlier in the week and found five Gold Coast tipsters. There may be more by now.

About 15 Minuttes to go, and Round 2 will be closed.

A lifetime ban from the Boards requires a majority decision from Moderators. I am sure that once I open this up for Mod. discussion that this insult to the Mighty Catters will confirm a permanent ban.

Then again, I could be wrong. And your loss for selecting against the Cats GO CATTERS :D :D :D

Who would believe it. 2 draws in the first two rounds. Hasn't happened in 100 years.
And here were we saying DRAWs were an uncommon event in AFL.

There goes the PICK 8 bonus again. I just think Norm doesn't want to pay out on the bonus.

Maybe we should have 3 bonus points at the end of the season for the member who picks the right/closest number of draws in the year.(Not necessarily in the tipping contest)
I predict we'll have 6 draws and there will be one round with 2 draws.. Don't ask me who or when....

HOWZAT!!!

If it happens a third week in a row, I'd get real nervous. :D

Due to the insane deal AFL have with SYD TV stations, the Friday game does not finish until 2am Sat - if we see them at all.

Well worth staying up for however.

I still do not understand what that Reivoldt free kick was for, near the end, that gave them a goal?

Can't a defender rush a behind at will any more?

If you want to get technical, and count last years Grand Final as a "Round" this is three weeks in a row, or technically three rounds in a row.

Of the last 11 AFL matches (not counting pre season) 3 have been draws.

My tip is becoming that within 3 years, the AFL will introduce a "superpoint" or "shootout" rule and eliminate draws.

Bill, I can't recall which year it was, and I am not going to look through 8,000 posts to find out, but one year in this Competition, the first two times I offered one of the surprize prizes for the first to select 8 winners we had draws in both those Rounds.

It was not in consecutive rounds, but the next time I offered it Glen actually won it. So point the finger at him.

No,he has to be "under pressure". The umpire did not consider the person tackling as applying any pressure

20 goals.

All the money and hype and does not buy success for a new team it seems.

Hope Ablett got all the dough up front. 8)

I think the operative word here is "team". They aren't yet. They are a P. T. Barnum freak show. I may have predicted elsewhere that they would win three games this year. After being beaten by Carlton by 20 goals, I have lowered my expectations.

At half time, the TV Commentary was simply wondering whether or not Carlton would get to 200 points.

Remember the Brisbane Bears...

Just stopped watching the Brisbane bears being slaughtered and that was only the first quarter!

Just a couple of queries??

Why do clubs keep paying top dollar to players who can't kick a goal from right in front and 40 metres out?
So far this has been prevalent this season - many teams kicking double the number of points as goals.
Could they have their pay cut by $x for every sitter they miss? Put it in their contract!
For Pete's sake, all they do all week is practice.

Does anyone understand the rules these days? Even the experienced commentators admit they don't.
More than 50% of the times a free kick is awarded, I assume it is going to the wrong player???

Why is it that you have to kick a goal before the runner will give you an on-field drink from the magic plastic flask.
"Hey, can I have a drink, I'm dying of thirst here in the back pocket?"
"NO - you'll have to wait till half time, you haven't kicked a goal yet!!!!"

There's a new rule. If you don't resist with enough effort when you are forced over the boundary line with the ball,
then you have a free kick awarded against you. It happened in the first round if you remember!
I saw more instances since where this rule was not applied when it was evident it should have been.
How do you quantify the amount of resistance you put up when you have the ball in both hands and you are being shoved by the momentum of the attacking player? At the same time trying to protect your body.

Do you think we should go back to the days when players had to hold down a job to survive and play for the love of the game and a small fee - and be allowed to have a cigarette and a stubby at half time.

Them were the days! :P :P :P

Just by looking at the score I bet the Essendon/Sydney game was a good one? Too bad for me my pick didn't win though.
