I am not sure of the answer to your question. We certainly don't want links to other programs if they can be avoided.

Our tech guru is away at the moment but I will refer the question to our Volunteer Moderator Panel to see if someone can advise you.

If this works, you can do as I did.

Right click the image and click on 'copy image location' or whatever menu option you get on your op system.
Click on the Img box above this message composition box, which gives you this:
Code:
[img][/img]

Then place the cursor between the [img]and[/img], and press Crl+V (or right click and select 'paste')

Image

NB - remember the image cannot be > 850 pixels in either direction to show on this forum.

Either make it under 850 mp before you send it to flickr, or read the flickr instructions and choose an image of the right size.

All this discussion of "megapixels" is incorrect and I fear is going to confuse beginners. I offer the following in the spirit of being helpful to beginners.

A megapixel is 1 MILLION pixels. What is recommended for posting on these forums is 800 x 600 pixels. That equals 480,000 pixels... think of it as HALF of one megapixel.

No hardware, camera or scanner, you could possibly buy can produce an image of 850 megapixels. So far as I am aware, that kind of resolution can only be obtained by combining many smaller images in photo-mosaic style. Planetary and astronomic mapping databases are all I can think of that can be thought of as having images of that resolution.... but these images are comprised of many smaller images.

We use the term megapixel to describe the resolution of cameras, most usually. Here is a web site that explains it a bit. We could tell people to post half megapixel images on these forums... but I doubt that would be better than telling them 800 x 600.

http://www.design215.com/toolbox/megapixels.php

And are we supposed to be using flikr? Photobucket is very easy to use and very easy to set to provide images at a maximum of 800 x 600.

You are right, I did originally refer to pixels and the OP mis-read it and from then we both referred to MP - my mistake.

As for 'are we supposed to be using flickr' as you will see the OP can't use photobucket. We can use any host we like as far as I'm concerned - I post images from photobucket, flickr, picassa, wilding.norvic-philatelics and others.

I see it now. My apologies!

I need to be sure and read back through all the postings before I comment.

I'm shaking my head though on why any organization would be blocking Photobucket and not flikr! Here in the US, I'm pretty sure that flikr is the better known platform.

If their intent is to block any photo sharing application, which is all I can think of, then why the preference?

As posted many times we prefer and encourage members to use photobucket where they can.

Flickr is slow to load and has given issues.

Not really - for two reasons. First, this board will not work successfully unless the image is on the board. A link is unlikely to provide a permanent image for future members.

Second, your picture is a very clear indication that webcam is simply not good enough. Even if those stamps were worth anything it is obvious that the image is nowhere near an acceptable quality. It is sometimes possible for members to get a reasonable image with a digital camera but 99% of good images have been obtained from scans.

I am not in a position to know what your family and school situation are, but without access to a scanner you will continue to be frustrated. So the answer lies somewhere within your own community and we hope you can find a solution there.

No because you didn't put the code between tags by clicking on the Img box above the message compilation box. Had you done so you would have seen

Code:
[img]http://www.flickr.com/photos/63808473@N04/5822240039/[/img]

And then you should ALWAYS use the PREVIEW button, instead of the Submit button - that way you can see whether it works before you load it to the board and ask "did that work?". And this is what i

I think this is a different one, but the effect is similar, webcams don't work except for pics of you! And the code for the image must end .jpg, .jpeg, or .gif to make it work. The code you pasted above is not an image address.

Nope. That didn't work either. I'll try again. OK. From the preview page I see it did work after I unclicked the "Disable BBCode" box!

I see that you have since posted the image so presumably your problem has been solved.

I repeat my request on another thread - please put an enter after the image, before you start typing.
