I collect stamps showing people wearing spectacles (glasses). I am willing to swap/buy any that I need for my collection. I collect them mint/muh/used/ singles/miniature sheets/covers. I also collect caricatures as well, like Postman Pat.

I will respond to any responses.

thanks
Dave

I won't say I will have a squint at my boxes of covers IN CASE I TEST everyone's sense of humour.

Seriously I will have a look, a few possibilities spring to mind.I don't remember lots of people with glasses on stamps.Perhaps it was a vanity thing.

Hi Baggy-Dave,

A more sensible post than my last.I have been going through a few boxes looking for covers on other themes and have found a few spectacle wearers.I have also found a number of covers, notably a series of USA aviators where there is a picture of the person complete with specs.the stamps are relatively mundane airmail ones.I also have a group of FDC for Sir Francis Chichester where the various pictures on the cover show him with specs.the stamp celebrates his achievement. All of these spectacle wearers do not appear on stamps so it is a nice way of widening your range and perhaps make a seperate section.Scans possible if I can master my new scanner.David

John SINFIELD put together an award winning exhibit on beards titled 'whiskers'.

There is nothing stopping you in assembling a similar collection.

I picked these up yesterday as part of an Israel lot. (Time to get some pictures on the thread.)

Sorry, unable to do much at the moment. I am in Melbourne for at least 3 months. Our daughter in-law Amanda was in a car accident on Saturday 26 January. With her in the car were our 2 grandchildren. Mitchell 4 years old and Cooper 5 month old. Mitchell died of his injuries the following morning. Amanda came out of hospital last Thursday. Today funeral arrangements were made for a week on Friday. Amanda is in a wheelchair until both her feet and right hand are better.

So i am unable at the moment to respond as i don't know what stamps i need.

Dave,

I'm really sorry to hear about this tragedy in your family. I hope that Amanda and Cooper will recover fully, and that you will all be able to have better times ahead.

When you are again more interested in the stamps, I will post and then send you an interesting complete set from Belgium.

Kind Regards,
Joel.

I am still in Melbourne. Our daughter in-law Amanda will find out tomorrow whether her left foot protective boot can be removed. She had her right foot protective boot removed last week. She is walking with a crutch. She is recovering well. She still can not look after her son Cooper (8 mths old) properly yet. We expect we will be able to go home in September. I can then look at my spectacles then and reply to those who have posted. I have been to two local stamps fairs here in Melbourne and picked a few news ones.

Thanks again

Dave

I bet you will not see many of these.

Great Britain 1981 Royal Wedding SG1160.

Not for sale.

Could be an interesting sideline to your collection.

A bit of fun to brighten your day.

Had an Interesting visit today at The Nunawading Fair,
when a New Customer made a purchase, and said he was collecting Glasses on Stamps.so I said he was just going to make a spectacle of himself.

He then introduced himself as Baggy from the Board, and filled me in on the last 6-7 Terrible months that have fallen upon him and his family.

I am happy to report, that things are starting to get back to somewhere near normal, although nothing can ever be back to the way it was,
and Baggy will be returning to NSW, soon,

So on behalf of ALL the Members here.I wish you and yours good health and a few better times ahead,
And Baggy you deserve to be Father of the YEAR for what you have done,

Thanks for you kind words. It was nice to meet up with someone from the board. It will be bad day on Wed next as Mitchell would have been 5 years old. We will try & make it a happy day. Its been hard living away from my wife for 2 months now. At least she will arrive on Tues for 2 weeks.

Anyway thanks again. I will be in touch with all those who have found me spectacles when i get back to NSW.

Will be up to 2am in the morning watching my english soccer team play. West Bromwich Albion. That's where my logon comes from. Their nickname is "baggies". You may see my car around the place. its WBA111.

Got this one on the envelope sending a Delcampe purchase. The scan can't capture it, but the lenses are actually silver foil with colour-changing stars. 8)

Hi Dave, I know its been awhile (looking back in the thread, I see it was November ) that I promised you the stamp I scanned. Finally it reared its head again in the midden of my stamproom, but a search of my email didn't turn up any message from you. I seem to recall you had emailed me your mailing address. If you'd still like the stamp I had there, let me know and I'll post it off gratis.

Hope your family is back on its feet, just read the news here about that. :(

Just hit the "email" button at the bottom of a message posted by someone you wish to contact, then you'll be taken to a screen where you can write an email that will be delivered to them.

Check your settings by going to top of page and clicking on "user contriol panel" then click on the left "Board Preferences" and check that you have settings to send or receive emails.
