Nice inconspicuous owl-age. I have a similar Japanese one.

Also, BTW, sorry I haven't posted in a while (not that anyone cares!) but I just moved to Richmond, VA and have been busy first with the holidays and now getting settled.

Here's a cutie from Botswana.

Here are my last three to contribute today. I'm curious if there's anymore of these in this set.

There is also a 50h Eagle Owl and a 5k Short-eared Owl. I have the 50h and will scan it when I get a chance.

Thanks so much for showing me these. Hopefully one day I'll be able to track them down.

I don't collect owls myself, but found a few to share in this thread which have come my way over the last few years, all of which are a bit different:-

Tonga 1990 - $10 Air Express owl - specimen block of 4

Image

Imperf plate proof

Image

Norfolk Island printed counter stamp strip with two blanks

Image

Norfolk Island booklet pane - stamps for local use

Image

Special cover (20 done) showing 3 strikes of the special cancel

Image

Norfolk Island uncut pair PostCards

Image

Norfolk Island - there were other stamps in this set showing similar gutter labels too:-

Image

Nice story behind this next one - several years ago, I acted for a client who was purchasing the Canungra post office (inland from the Gold Coast) - I told the client that they should look into obtaining a special pictorial cancel for Canungra, and asked the client if there was anything special about the history etc. of Canungra. He said "owls" - so after a couple of months he sent me the following cover as a gift in appreciation for alerting him about having his own special cancel which he had now made up and which was a big hit with the locals.

Guyana gold and silver foil S/S

Mongolia gold foil

North Korea - artwork for the stamp shown

I couldn't resist this one.

Somehow I think it is fraudulent.

I also noted that the blue owl site was down for maintenance.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting a stylized owl, sabers and oak leaves, designed by Norwegian artist and glass sculptor Arne-Jon Jutrem (1929-2005), engraved by Henry Welde, and issued on February 16, 1967 to mark the 150th anniversary of Higher Military Education, Scott No. 502, Facit No. 585.

The Tawny Owl or Brown Owl (Strix aluco) is a stocky, medium-sized owl commonly found in woodlands across much of Eurasia. Here is an image of a stamp depicting a Tawny Owl, designed by Swedish author and illustrator Finn Rideland (1932- ), engraved by Martin Mörck, and issued by Sweden on September 8, 1977, Scott No. 1212, Facit No. 1008.

This is one of my favourite thematic covers let alone "Owl" item. The front of the envelope, sent from Paris 6 Oct 1884, is not so impressive but turn over and

And the contents have the same illustration. Thinking about it this could fit into a Harry Potter collection, if anyone collects HP as a theme that is.

If you like owls on stamps, you might like to look at these pics of a real one I took in the wild yesterday.

Again not an Owl on Stamp, but an Owl on a cover, found in a cheap mix.
