Hi thought it was about time we had a thread to show nice images of stamps we have received on parcels.

If the parcel was from another member please post who it was so they get recognition for a job well done.

These I have posted elsewhere but to get the thread going will post them again.

Received from family after I requested gutters be used.

Image

Received on my order from Glen Stephens, current SG Cat $4.55 AUD per stamp used (same as mint). Better than free postage.

Glen told me I'd be fired from the promotion team if I didn't post this here.

What's the promotion team you ask?????

It's a secret society trying to get the uninvolved in using Stampboards and promoting Glen's product, so that he will keep Stampboards running. Nothing sinister

I hope the sender realised the stamps were still on the bubble pak, cut up and used as packing inside

From the postmark I have a fair idea which dealer that was. I've stayed at their home there. ;)

I'd be embarrassed to charge someone $12 and use tired and near worthless old 25 year old rubbish like that on a client parcel.

70% of what you paid for are the $5 and $2, which are $5 a 100 in used bundles. And the others are not too far behind to be honest.

I mailed this today to a member here . and for his $10 shipping he'll get something worth $20 fine used.

 Gawd it's a small world when people can be recognised by the postmark !!

I'll have to admit I never took much notice of parcel/letter stamps I received (or sent) until I joined this board. I keep them now in case they are of use to anyone.

I get a lot of parcels from ebay and mail order (books, gifts and junk, not philatelic) and they never have stamps !!

So just seeing any stamps on parcels, regardless of value, is a bonus I'd say :D

Your example makes a good point though, and something I'll keep in mind if ever I send a parcel.

Skippy, whenever I have purchased off Ebay I tell the seller I collect stamps and probably 40% of the time I get some nice stamps. Try that next time and someone will surprise you.

I got these a couple of weeks ago, and I have posted the scan elsewhere, on the Boards, but I will post them here as well.

Still have full gum, although they have been postally used:

The usual half eaten lollypop (you pay postage and handling) or one free post prize to the person who announces from whom I got them. :)

Arlene .. no-one minds paying $20 Regd post and pack on a carton when those kind of stamps are used. :)

You could put them on the For Sale forum here and MAKE money on the shipping cost.

Urging folks to use NICE stamps on their parcels has been a lifelong crusade of mine. See below - :D

Lisa - you like that $20 of common Defins block, with a piece of wide cellotape down the centre, ruining every stamp because of ..... ?

Me, I'd break down and cry if anyone used that to me.

yes i know Glen, should have seen how the package was wrapped, they must have loved tape, cause they used alot of it, but I still like the stamps and the fact it is a nice block despite the tape being on it.

Amy - I edited out your address on packet as requested. 8)

However I am appalled to see Tassie Stamps using 3 common 50c peel and sticks on any mail to members here, especially when they are charged extra for that postage!

For 30 years my crusade has been for all collectors and dealers to use VALUABLE stamps (when used) as franking to each other:

http://www.glenstephens.com/snapril08.html

He is young and keen, and seems to have many right ideas and hopefully he will read this, and add decent franking to his business plan! :

And from posts from others above, get an idea of what NICE and THOUGHTFUL franking looks like! :D :D :D

I'd die if anyone here sent me 3 x common 50c kiloware junkers, and I was paying the shipping!

And a tip to him and all others reading ... his was a large A4 type size envelope.

NEVER put stamps right up at the top RH corner - even on letter rate envelopes.

A - they are likely to get creased .. on a packet like this guaranteed so - as you can see.

B - they will nearly ALWAYS get the ink jet spray cancels across the stamps in transit.

Place them a few inches down and in from corner.

The stamp will NOT get creased then, and often the ink jets in transit miss them - thankfully.

This photo below is of a small regular sized DL sized cover I am sending to a member this afternoon with his NWPI stamps in it, bought from here.

It is 100% legal .. there is NO PO rule saying stamps "MUST" be placed top right .. they only "recommend" you do that.

Any transit ink jets, as you can imagine will bypass the stamps, all of which will have a light corner Castlecrag cds.

Member pays me $3.75 Reg'd postage and gets full sets of VFU stamps - worth a lot more than that at his end. WIN-WIN.

Glen

Many thanks to Crosscrescent for sending me a similar packet this week with the same series butterflies on them, which arrived perfectly. 8)

Andrew tells me they were a limited edition, so treasure the Arlene as I will do!

I'll find the cover in the rubble and scan it when uncovered!

Found this parcel posted in 1971 from Long beach, CA, USA.

It was too large for the scanner,
so has been scanned in two parts.
A bit grotty, but with all the stamp blocks I think it looks great :D

The blocks that are on the paper. What do you guys do with them? Leave them on? Don't go mad. Was just wondering if you cut them out seperate or leave them all together?

Thanks

The blocks that are on the paper. What do you guys do with them? Leave them on? Don't go mad. Was just wondering if you cut them out seperate or leave them all together?

Thanks
Arlene

It depends. If they are on an envelope with nice cancellations and the envelope is in good condition, I'll keep them as they are. If the envelope is rather big with nothing exciting (no registration label, or on a cardboard package which is too big to keep), I'll cut them out on paper or if the stamp is common, I might just soak them.

Cheers
Andrew

Hi all

Just a photo of stamp sheets and QE11, I received on a parcel from Glen, that I thought was worth putting on this forum.

Didn't think PO would allow them to be CTO'd, then put into a plastic bag and then stuck to a parcel, but you learn something every day.

Brilliant, all dealers should do the same for buyers.

Keith

Agreed Keith.

Here's another from... yep you guessed it, Castlecrag.

I have received some nice franking from Glen in the past but some packages have been vandalised by Australia Post.

From this photo you can see what normally happens to the stamps when not placed in a plastic slip as Glen had done;

Ewen .. thank goodness for plastic packing envelopes!

That kind of stamp suffers most on a parcel as being white, any scuff shows readily.

Urging folks to use NICE stamps on their parcels has been a lifelong crusade of mine. See below -

http://www.glenstephens.com/snapril08.html

Ewen could list those superb used 14 x $1 Insects top values on ebay in the topical section, and mention the SG Cat is £28 used (=$A60) and probably get quarter cat or $15 for them, effectively giving him TOTALLY FREE POSTAGE on a Registered box across the country!
