I have three examples of Ontario Luxury Tax stamps with 'Gasoline Tax + the new values' overprinted. These turned up in the last lot of stamps I bought right in town.

You can see the heavy creasing and such but I believe that faults are common with stamps like these. The 30c purple ink on 6c blue is known as OGT17 in the Canadian Revenue Stamp Catalogue published by Erling van Dam.

The single 6c red ink on 1c green is known as OGT12. The used catalogue values for these stamps are........$350+$350+$150. I knew gas was expensive...

Perhaps you might get at hit with the Petro Philatelic society? I am a member but only into stamps.

Do you know how these were used?

If they were stuck on tanker trucks, collecting 'on cover' would be somewhat awkward

Would you rather licking a stamp onto the tank and pay for the gas, or suck a hose and siphon it "free"? Neither option is very pleasing. :?
