I would like to nominate Jacob's "Stamps I have received from Stampboard members" thread.

http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=22899

Great effort by a junior member ... 10 pages of posts, heaps of views, and a substantial following.

A motivating thread enjoyed by many members. :D

Close voting this month, and by a whisker norvic from Norfolk UK, is the winner for the month of November!

Some great threads there, and a lot of inside the British PO info, members would otherwise not be privy too.

Congratulations, and please contact me re your prize. :)

Commiserations to young Jacob, in a tight contest, but I notice he won this time last year, and already has HIS 100 carat Blue Diamond prize above his avatar. 8)

I am sure he'll get nominated again in future - and let's get the nominations in for DECEMBER folks, as being the Xmas/New Year month, we all get other things on our mind as December progresses.

Glen

I'd like to nominate tallanent (Allan) for his post in the thread "Can anyone assist with Ireland-Scotland 1814 rate markings?" which is here:

http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=32699

His excellent analysis of the rates of an early 19th century letter from Ireland to Scotland added much knowledge to the board for this usually very complicated subject.

Cheers,

Robert

Lots of fascinating information here on so many aspects of the stamp including the Mail-o-Meter machine. Who needs to watch "Going Postal" ? 8)

The thread has been about for a while but Jay has been updating it recently and looks to have made some 'converts'.

Somewhat belatedly I would like to thank those who nominated and voted for my being the winner for November: talk about blinkered, I hadn't even noticed that the slogan against my avatar had changed and I've changed the avatar this month!

Glen prompted me today, and said he thought I would have noticed. Well I hadn't, and I am very pleased. There is nothing quite as satisfying as being lauded by ones peers, it is very humbling in fact - and you don't see the words 'Norvic' or 'Ian Billings' and 'humble' on the same page very often, let alone in the same sentence.

So thank you again for the initial nomination AMark, and for the congratulations from other members. Keep reading, there is plenty more to come.

This seems as good a place as any to send my year-end greetings for those who won't see them on our home page.

MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Our offices will be closed from Thursday 22 December to Tuesday 3 January.
At this time we remember those who are no longer with us, and enjoy the company of the family and friends that we have.
We hope our customers and readers - not always the same - will be with your family and friends as well.

My nomination for January is for Rein for his incredibly detailed work and analysis on the following thread:

Rein

Multi-million Euro postal stamp fraud in the Netherlands?

viewtopic.php?f=13&t=33419&start=50

This is classic Stampboards stuff. Investigative reporting, great detailed, almost forensic evidence, and a damn good read.

Renominating jadrake... Excellent software given free to use to stampboarders. Makes life easier for stamp collectors. Not to forget that he kept working on it through Christmas holidays

I also would like to nominate Jadrake for his innovative software.

Not only for his creative inventiveness, but also that he is making it accessable to all.

That is very generous.

I notice that he has quite a few Stampboarders interested in the program.

He is being very open to constructive criticism and welcomes suggestions from fellow collectors.

A nomination from me for Jadrake for his Stamp Image Bursting software as seen here:

http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=33059&start=50

My nomination is because the software works and he irons out any small bugs procatively and immediately and also because he is selflessly providing this free for collectors.

Now for his next challenge - to use his skills to develop software that can improve a scan of the rear of a stamp and enhance the watermarks so they are actually readable. For that I would pay good dollars (as I'm sure most collectors would) :!:

Well done Jadrake :D

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the honor and was glad to finally bring a piece of software to the open source community that many have found useful!

Cheers!
