I'm a Bigelow fan myself, currently drinking the Jasmine Green tea and the "Constant Comment" decaf cirtus blend.

I also enjoy Twining's "Prince of Wales" Chinese black tea blend. 8)

What kind of tea do you drink? I'm especially curious about the opinions of our UK members.

Dilmah - only uses Sri Lankan Tea direct from the plantation.
Earl Grey and Irish Breakfast and single origin when it's on special.

If I feel herbal then its Celestial Seasonings "Red Zinger" or "Nightime" blend.

Unfortunately the big boys don't like Dilmah taking up shelf space in the supermarkets and I can no longer find Irish Breakfast.

If were having a BBQ and I cook a Damper then it has to be "Billy Tea" in the billy on the fire! Nice and strong.

Rarely herb tisane such as camomile or any of the mints.

Usually Raktajino (not tea) ... a strong mixture of coffee, cocoa and spices (depending on whose recipe is being used), heavy on the vanilla for me. Also goes good with a dash of raspberry syrup.

Heghlu'meH QaQ jajvam.

Sencha, Japanese loose leaf green tea. Wet the leaves with a little cold water to ensure leaves do not get scalded and then pour on hot water, just off the boil..leave for five minutes....sheer heaven!

I drink coffee. I used to drink tea when I was younger. Sometimes I will have a cold green tea. But my daughter who is a nurse, told me that while teas have lots of antioxidants in them, some teas such as Green Tea can also cause your blood to thin.

So if you are on drugs for High Blood Pressure then you could do yourself a lot of harm. And what's worse is, there are no warnings on the bottle to tell you this.

I do agree, though, that Billie tea boiled and "swung by the handle" correctly is pure brew heaven.

Sorry to disappoint you, Erik, but I hardly ever drink tea (don't like milky drinks...).

I occassionally have a pot of Chinese tea if we eat at a Chinese restaurant as (I'm told) it can aid the digestion.

I don't drink it often but when I do it's usually either Chai Tea (I mean just the spiced Masala Chai Tea itself, not the popular Chai Tea latte drink/mix with a cup of heavy cream or whatever added). Or a plain Jasmine Tea.

Generally I get the Chai Tea from an Indian Grocer when I visit a city. For so many years, I have wanted to try different Jasmine Teas but I don't know a lot about them and we have limited shopping in Marfa so it's always Twinings.

Bigelow of Connecticut is not easy to find in Melbourne Down Under.
I did find a box of Cinnamon Stick tea bags in a large town in country Victoria and enjoyed it.

The best tea in the world as far as I'm concerned is Twinings Lapsang Souchong.

You can't get it in every supermarket or store and you have to like a smoky flavour, but it's perfect I think.

It's smell and taste takes me back to the times I spent in the back blocks of country NSW around a campfire at night.

I agree that Lapsang Souchong is a wonderful tea by Twinings,
along with Gunpowder Green by the same blender,
both of which go nicely with chicken.

The former is available as a leaf or sachet (bag).
But Gunpowder Green is only available as leaf.

The best tea for me is Twinings Earl Grey but Lady Grey is also very nice.

If anybody has problems getting Twinings Teas let me know i can get it from work.

Went to the shop just the other day
Buying all my groceries the usual way
But I looked around and I found that they
No longer stocked the tea I like upon my tray
I was choosing something different, because I knew
I'd try a different brew, now
It's gotta be a different brew

There's crap in the kettle, and it sure ain't tea
It tastes more than a little weird to me
The packet says it ought to be Lapsang Souchong
But I've tasted it - it's wrong
The packet label's wrong

I bought a few diff'rent teas to taste
The shop had twenty-seven types and in my haste
I didn't check exactly what I'd bought
One cup's like any other, that is what I thought
And as I walked back homewards, realised it's true
I really like a brew, I
Look forward to my brew

But there's crap in the kettle, and it sure ain't tea
There's something green where it ought to be
If it says Darjeeling, even Pure Assam
It don't go well with jam
Not with my scone and jam

Well, I made a pot just the other day
I'm told it's very popular, it's called Earl Grey
Some folks may like it, I do not
The taste of tea is ruined by the bergamot
But still I'm trying all these teas, I'm sure I'll find
A brew as nice as mine...

But there's crap in the kettle and it sure ain't tea
It's lemony tea, not elementary
If you gotta add sugar, then the taste ain't right
And this stuff tastes of (This Word Auto Censored by Board software!), bleah
Yeah, this stuff tastes of (This Word Auto Censored by Board software!)

Now, I've got teas in a great big pile
There's mint, and then there's ginger and there's camomile
But none of them taste right to me
And I am sure that they should not be sold as "tea"
They may be something, served up wet and hot
But "tea" they're surely not
They certainly are not
And as I went to the shop it occurred to me,
They ought to sell real tea
And label it "REAL TEA"

And there's crap in the kettle, and it sure ain't tea
What do they think I am - a chimpanzee?
Next time I go shopping, I will try again
And I know I'll get some then, well...
I hope I'll get some then

Pick the original song and artist that this "tea song" is a parody of, and I will shoot you off some stamps. Please do NOT use google or another search engine.

The only tea I drink is Lapsang Souchong, which is slightly smoked. Simply the best.

Allanswood and Selvedge both refer to billy tea and swinging the billy.

Haven't seen that done for years - my dear old Dad was a bit of an expert. Always Billy tea leaves with a gum leaf thrown in for authenticity!

Here are the CSIRO instructions but please kids- don't try this at home!

I'm assuming that this is one of our peculiarly Aussie practices??

Skippy, your two teas are strong but not smoky.
Therefore, Lapsang Souchong may be too smoky for your liking.
So kindly consider a less smoky alternative, Twinings Russian Caravan, which is also available in supermarkets.

Dilmah green tea seems to do the trick in the morning. Soak no longer than 2 minutes, no sugar, no milk.

I'm enjoying some Twinings Earl Grey at the moment.
I've never liked milk in my tea....a horrible waste of both drinks if you ask me! :x
My mum introduced me to black tea with a squeeze of fresh lemon....she called in Russian Tea...I don't know why it got that name, but it is probably my favourite, and excellent if you have a cold. :!:

You might like it over here Eric, they have loads of different teas in Korea. My local Tesco (yep the British supermarket is big over here) has a tea aisle about 50 metres long. It has tons of stuff I've never heard of or tried. 보리차 (barley tea) is OK, but the one closest to tea that a Brit might like is 둥굴레차 (deunggulle) made from a plant root.
ì°¨ (cha) means tea.

Twinings of London introduced this tea a few weeks ago.
Australian Afternoon Tea is a fine drop.
What a pity the Company produced this one in China :!:

I drink coffee ( Nescafe Alta Rica )and not tea as a rule (if I do I agree with most here that Earl Grey is the best )

But my wife is fond of tea and only drinks Ringtons

Any Poms on here heard of this / tried it?

I've heard of Rington's - they've been around for ages. They deliver tea in distinctive black and yellow vans. I've never tried it though.
I have to say, being a Yorkshireman, my favourite cuppa has to be Yorkshire Tea

I drink camomile usually, but I also have alot of loose leaf teas like Strawberry Champagne, Peach, Caramel (with actual chunks of caramel!) and one Aussie blend... which I think tastes like wombat poo that's been left out in the rain for too long :p NOT that I've actually had that... it's just a really dirty tasting tea...

Orange Pekoe, five or six bags in the teapot, brewed long time. Light sugar, lemon and lime juices, sometimes cinnamon. Refrigerated. I drink 1L or two everyday.

Twinings of London introduced this tea a few weeks ago.
Australian Afternoon Tea is a fine drop.
What a pity the Company produced this one in China :!:

Mixed and blended by the Hon Kevin Rudd - Yes THAT Mr Rudd!
A group of "names" was asked to mix their blend, and his was the favourite.

Favorite brand of loose leaf tea: Twinings

Favorite brands of tea bags: Newby, Twinings, Ahmad (only the Contemporary series)

Favorite kinds of tea: Prince of Wales, Earl Grey, Lady Grey, Yunnan Mist, Oolong, Lapsang Souchong (when I feel like it, which is not often, because it does, frankly, smell like a cross between burning tyres and ski wax), Poo-Erh (this one smells like boiled squids), Decaffeinated Tea, and many more.

Twinings Irish Breakfast Tea (In fact I just finished one at 11.50pm) :D

If I can't get it, then English Breakfast Tea is the next down in my Hierarchy of needs. Failing that, any type of non-herbal tea will suffice, even a can of Diet Coke. More than a few hours without any of the above, and things can get nasty

I used to drink tea exclusively until a friend brought some tea leaves from India for me as a gift. Started drinking coffee (35 yrs now) after that as I couldn't replace it in Canada.

If I do drink tea now it is Red Rose, Lipton's, Earl Grey, (depending on where I get it) Green Tea and I do enjoy Chi tea when I can.

:D In our household we usually drink good old Red Label Strong Tea - boring but very good on the palate.

For years my favorite was Pickwick- but it has not been obtainable here for a long time now :(

One of my jobs as a teenager was at the local Lipton's plant moving the boxes of leaves that came in :D

Unfortunately, too many of the scented/herbal teas from any brand- Twinnings included- are just artificial flavors added to cheap tea.

But then, having spent 14 years designing packaging machinery, I have seen too much of what really goes into too many things we take for granted.

I used to drink tea a lot during my years in Asia. I've since become heavily re-Americanized. Just coffee now. My wife, however, has a pantry full of all kinds of tea.

Earl Grey Dilmah if I can get it, Liptons is second choice.

When healthy I drink it with a dash of milk.
If not well, black with honey and lemon.
If feeling sluggish then straight black.

She who must etc etc prefers Green tea in the evening (whatever brand she can find)
