Like most things that deal with computer and tech. stuff, I felt lost.

After circling the wagons a few times I finally was able to manage making replies and now feel very much at home.

Hi all, I think I stuffed up my first post big time!

My first post was locked out - terminated and that was a couple of hours ago.

Not good, maybe I'll get a reprieve.

Thanks all for reading.

I bought something in the Bendigo stamp shop and was given a Stampboards card with my change so finding it was easy. My first day, though was AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!

I couldn't seem to get anything to work or find my way through to find out how to do things. I felt stupid, angry, depressed and I shouted a lot. Then I worked it out.

Now I find it all so easy I can't understand why I had trouble but I can really sympathise with any newbies who are struggling. All I can say is, stick with it. It is worth it.

To answer the question - um, no, not particularly but it must have been a good day as I can now every now and again see what the real world is doing with its stamp collecting.

I think I got it right this time. Went to the introduce myself section.
Thought there were several topics that I could go to to introduce myself and I thought first day at stampboards.
Anyway, I introduced myself at the roll call introduction.
Have a nice day.

Members might note Erich has a join date of JANUARY 2007. Near all other earlier members have an APRIL 1, 2007 date, which is when we went "live".

April Fools Day seemed so appropriate for some reason .................... :D

My join date is 2005, as that is when I registered the domain name, and set up the board, and then forgot about it for 2 years as I was busy!

I knew Erich and Doug and Jay in the USA, from a primitive kind of stamp email message service that we had all belonged to for the previous 10 years or so. They were the first 3 members apart from me, as can be seen -

http://www.stampboards.com/memberlist.php?mode=&sk=c&sd=a

When we got to 1000 posts we were all pretty excited, and when we got to 100 members in the first 2 weeks or so, thought we had it made!

We were all on the eBay stamp discussion board, which had the problem of things scrolling off before you could read them if you didn't check it constantly...and then eBay got annoying about it: You couldn't post images...you couldn't post anything bad about anyone's eBay lots, you couldn't link to anything for sale off eBay...etc, etc.

We were also on Greg Deeter's email list, which had the opposite problem.

On eBay's board, you couldn't do anything after a while...meanwhile, since the list wasn't moderated, it was taken over by Usenet oddballs arguing with each other most of the time. I think the list is gone now, or so seldom used, it might as well be.

I remember Glen mentioning this board because the other places were becoming useless if you wanted to actually talk about stamps.

Hi....

I may be a relative newbie here.... But I thought let me ask and get to know how each one felt on their first day out here in stampboards..... AFTER BECOMING AN ACTIVE MEMBER

I know many take days before registering and days before making their first post.... I want to know how it felt to be part of the world`s largest stampboards???

Any unique, interesting or odd thing that happened to you on your first day???
First day jitters??? The warm welcome you got???

Anything from your personal life that particular day that makes you remember that day as fresh and memorable even now???

Let me make it clear... By first day I do not mean the day we register and vanish to come back after long... In that case the first day would be the day when you decided....

Yes folks... I shall be a part of family henceforth

Yes I remember it as if were only yesterday - actually it was only yesterday come to think of it

I had a hell of a job completing part two of the obligatory "you must complete within 24 hours or you vill be shot", or words to that effect, but I persisted and I am glad I did. I think I have stumbled on a gem here.

Only found it by acccident while doing a google in connection with 'Stamps Of The World' (SG), hit on link, and low and behold a man called Glen (yes Glen of Stampboards) an Australian giving an answer to a pommie from UK about a UK catalogue. It's a small world.

Keep up the good work Stampboards.com, I like what I see.

Hi,

I joined 4 Nov 2009. It was a sunny day. (Or was it raining?) I joined in the morning, right after breakfast. (Or was is right after lunch?) I was at work. (Might it have been a vacation day?)

But it definitely was my twins' 8th birthday!! (Sam & Sarah were born 4 Nov 2001 :D )

My first post on Stampboards was late at night.

We had cleaned out my late Father-in-laws house to get ready for sale and had brought all his stamp boxes back to our place.

I'd spent a few days looking at them and had piles strewn across the dining table and floor  So I though I'd better look into getting some help before I muck up and put things in the wrong order.

Googled "Stamp Dealer Sydney" and got Glens website, and followed the link to this forum.

I already had a photobucket account and was used to this forum format from chatting on other forums, so I made my first post around midnight

Something along the lines of "I have a mountain of stamps to sort... HELP" (very useful topic title I know  )

I thought I might get some replies in the next couple of days, as the forum looked fairy active, From memory I got answers right away !!

Yes, I remember my first day because it was only yesterday. It has already been an exciting time. This site is like a treasure chest of information and I risk becoming addicted.

I have only had one warning so far....hope I can keep out of trouble from now on.

Congratulations to all involved in making this such a great place to visit.... I am sure I will never forget my first day here. :D

Hello Margo,

thanks for your post - yes Slovenia is small but beutiful part of the world.
You posted the stamp with our highest mountain - Triglav - it's not very high (only 2864 m) but it's our pride.
You are not real Slovenian if you don't climb on Triglav :)

Hi All

My First Day has taught me to use the preview button more and understand subject and
message body need to be capitalized, i am a victim of having younger friends that make me lazy like them.

I hope i get a chance to prove i can do it right on my second day. :D

Thanks
