Phil, if I may call you Phil,

Did Muruk get my farewell gift mourning letter for Ron? I made it for him and you guys and his wife, let me know if it arrived not sure if the black edges on the envelope will send it through. Remind Muruk that there is a letter in the envelope.

Better than calling me "Cur Philly"
But no idea, as it did not come up, and we only spoke briefly.
Too much on, and I had to move my car   8)
Also, he resides in a mountainous retreat, and mail takes a little longer to reach him, especially if he was in Croydon on the day it arrived.

Since I re-injured my leg I mailed my exhibit to the show, the doctor said no to travel, I hope he lifts it. My postal strike article is titled "postal Strikes: Creating a Philatelic Exhibit" and my other article titled "42nd Anniversity of the 1970 United States postal Strike and military Responce" it will be the next article in the same issue.

The 1970 strike went from March 17 to April 3 and the articles were well recieved by the American Philatelic Society since they told me they never had a article on the subject and feel that it will open a whole new area for collectors.

When they send me my five copies I will post the article here on the boards for others who collect topical stamps and others. When I get the judges sheets for my exhibit at the Philadelphia show I will also post them here for others to learn from. I hope people find them useful, question how can I get the two other sets of evals here onto a thread of their own titled "judges sheets for collectors" what do you guys think? I want to offer such knowledge that I have to give.

Hi. I hope no one minds, but I'd like to post something I wrote for MR B. I feel that to MR B, StampBoards meant a lot to him, and members here felt just the same about him. To us, he was so many things. To some, the protective 2nd father, others, the older brother you could always confide in, others again, the wise old uncle..But to all of us, a wonderful friend.

You befriended so many,
Through this "White Mans Magic"
To lose you so suddenly,
Was a shock, and so tragic.

We will re-read your words,
As we sit and reflect,
Remembering you MR B,
With admiration and respect.

Generous, funny and wise,
Are what comes to mind.
You MR B,
Were one of a kind.

So although we will miss you,
We will carry on.
But it wont be the same,
Now that you're gone.

You will always be with us,
The pain, over time will mend.
And with pride we will remember,
MR B, our founder, our confidante, our FRIEND..

No,

I didn't attend, for the first time in a long while. I pretty much only attended to have a chat with Ron. The idea of turning up and seeing an empty space (or, perhaps worse, the space taken over) was not at all tempting. :(

Philly and I went to pick up our lots-won, yesterday at the Phoenix Box lot auction. I knew I had won 2 lots of covers and one lot of folders (2-3-4 ring type) but when we got there. I had won 2 lots ( 6 huge cartons of folders) and Philly had won 2 lots- another 6 big cartons. In the end, we had to leave Philly's 6 there.

Just a reminder that BOX LOT Auction #1202 is on this FRIDAY, 30th March commencing at 4:00pm. Viewing has commenced and will continue right up untill the auction starts on Friday.

Hope to see some of the GOMC (and followers) there!

Well the APS pushed the date of my article to be published to the summer. I had a abominal ultrasound and discovered I may have possible liver diease  this must have happened during or after my fracture as tests in 2011 before the accident were negative I will know March 29th if this possibility is the new reality. I will be very mad if it is true

My exhibit will be shown this weekend :D and hopefully it will do well in the medal classes. I am fine tuning my postal strike exhibit with more structure and date organization and redoing write ups to insure fact and not long winded.

Morning session, I have no Fercon idea as I did not attend. 8)
But it seems that future meetings will be at the Kilsyth Club ( Ann Wiggy and murak please note ) All will be welcome.
The afternoon minutes will not be posted as the Sexrectary did not attend ( could not bear to attend  :? )
But ParryOne was very sedate.
Fercon Jerry had no stories to relate, but a very nice collection of stamps on postcards to display.
Harry aka "the Silver Fox " had a collection of city currency ( Notguild or some such ) to show from after the WW1.
I brought in some Canadian, some NewFoundland and my Mourning covers to upset Fercon Jerry's equilibriham 8) 8)
( He wants the Olympic Faxes from it    )
But the Sexretary was a "no - show, no apology )"
I took my coffee mug home with me as it appears that future meetings will be at the Kilsyth Club in Canterbury Road ( free advertisement ).
Harry and I then departed for our usual coffee at the club, and it is not often that you can surprise Harry, But I did when I suggested that we wine and dine there.
That did not surprise him, but my booking earlier in the day for our meals did. Not often that you get one up on Harry.
He had lemonade, I indulged in another beverage ( Yeah, I am supporting our Primary producers )
But we missed Mr Boggler.
I am demolishing a packet of Kooka's Country Cookies - Chocolate Cherry as I write this,
AND I blame my BSL on you, Mr Boggler     :( 20 years too soon. )

For the interest of those interested;
Harry had Chicken Schnitzel, as he does not like fish.
By coincidence, I had Risotto, with PRAWNS, MUSSELS, SCALLOPS, FISH and CALAMARI.
I think that he considered moving to another table.

Muruk,

Has that cover arrived? I hope when the APS finally publishes those two articles I can be a expert on the worldwide postal strikes. I am working on another exhibit that won a bronze with a crystal dish I hope to raise it to a gold.

I am disapointed that I could not go to the Philadelphia stamp show, my exhibit was set up by others, I will hopefully know Saturday how I did if people I asked take pictures.

I hope that one day I will be able to go to a show with my exhibit.

Random question!

FDCs:

When a FDC has a gummed flap, should you lick it closed; fold it in; or leave it out?

Don't lick it, it will only reduce it's value even more. I would, personally, leave it out. Even folding it away could cause some (unintended) damage.

Don't give Philly breadcrumbs to leave a trail, they wouldn't make it to the ground (being edible and all)!

Nah, that would conflict with his microchip that the vet embedded.

Philly, never (!) leaves crumbs.

Peter and fellow GOMC's,

I have a question I discovered two of my first day covers in my Dag Hammarskjold exhibit have no words "first day cover" in the bars of the cancle; I went to e-bay to look up other Hammarskjold covers and discovered that (only applies to the Scott error and regular dag stamp like on the mourning cover I sent) there were two type of covers.

The cachet covers from Artmaster, Artcraft, House of Farnum, Unknown cover, Feinman, Glory, Aristocrats, Fleetwood and Fluegel have the "first day cover" in the bar cancle. there was a Fleetwood, Artcraft and a unknown cachet cover that did not have the FDC words in bar cancle, is that a factor that I should point out in my exhibit or is it just normal? and is it important?

No. I can vouch for Philly , all day from 9:20am to 6:20pm.
Beacause of unforseen events this week we didn't get to view either Prestige or Phoenix. Philly was supposed to meet his son for lunch today but he took off for Sydney and we were in the city, so went and viewed Phoenix and strayed for the auction.

I got a couple of lots and Philly got one.
So the reason for his non-reply was, he was doing stamps.

Douglas, the wording within the cancel lines has nothing to do with the FDC maker but with the Post Office where the FDC cancel was struck. Obviously some PO's/cancalers had FDI and some didn't. But yes, worthwhile pointing it out.

Some coprolite stole my bread crumps, and all nature strips look the same :? :? :? :?
For lunch I and a fiend dined on home grown prize beef, served with a touch of green vegetable matter, while inbibing a liquid that supports our primary producers.
One matter relating to cuisine that came up for discussion was this:
( noting that no question is too simple etc here)  :?
Is it legal to eat human flesh ( cannibalism ) in Australia, or in any state>?
Ignore the mere technicalities of murder, tampering with a corpse, digging up graves etc, or the obscenity of it, but is it unlawful.
Or are we wasteing another natural resource, ( I understand that on certain Pacific Islands it was referred to as " long pig" so the idea has existed before.
It was my fiend who brought it up 8) 8) 8)

I really wish we would follow the Russian example and leave the time where it is now.

This twice yearly reset everything is a right pain in the butt.
