Oh, the poor maligned Comic Sans... there seems to be an "Emperor's New Clothes" mentality/conspiracy among the young'uns to diss this fun font.

It may or may not be a bit lighthearted for a more conservative stamp forum, but speaking as a boring old fart with 40 years in the signwriting trade, I'll defend it, it makes me feel cheerful.

I really do like the new font; it's rounded, informal and friendly (just like me really  ).

I use it on address labels for my customers. Since this board is friendly and informal, and not at all stiff or pretentious, I would be quite happy to go on with Comic Sans as I suspect this is.

I pressed F5 when Glen suggested to do so several posts back and that hideous green has stayed away since!

1st of April is over everybody. Please remove the crappy comic sans font, and remove the green background color so that we can all read the posts again. The dark blue font on the green background is 100% unreadable on my macbook pro LCD monitor (no contrast). I actually have to select all the text, for it to become somewhat readable. Ruined my weekend, pretty much. Thanks!

It is nice to see the board trying to keep fresh, always good to keep up with the times....

Unless we have speech bubbles to accompany this change this font is not for me, I don't care for it one bit, sorry. There are so many other choices that would be much better IMHO.

Have a good one,

I rather like the new font! Hated the green background  ...the yellow was better but toooo bright  a pale yellow would have been better!

All in all a pretty neat April Fools Day trick.......any idea who the culprit was?

Not strictly True.

This board has to use SYSTEM FONTS to display the same on both Windows & Macs.

There are only 17 available
Arial
Arial Black
Comic Sans MS
Courier New
Georgia1
Impact
Lucida Console
Lucida Sans Unicode
Palatino Linotype
Tahoma
Times New Roman
Trebuchet MS1
Verdana
Symbol
Webdings
Wingdings
MS Sans Serif4
MS Serif4

And even these do not always display on mobile devices, mostly they revert to Arial.

We used before a mix of Verdana & Lucinda Grande.

So the choice is VERY limited............

Not on the page I was looking at. If the poll button does not show up on all forum sub groups then seems a waste of time to have it as I do not visit all sub groups.

It certainly showed up as Arial font during the whole of yesterday on my iPad so I used that instead of the laptop.

Just the way I like it 8)

Speaking about the iPad, I thought it was another Apple cr*ppy thing until I got one. I can't believe how seriously good the thing is for email and the internet (including of course serious Stampboards use).

It starts up virtually immediately courtesy of a high speed processor and not having to load up stupid Windows stuff.

Sure it doesn't do some things but that's what a laptop/desktop computer is for. I'm now an Apple believer (never thought I'd say that :!: ).

It's a little too soft for me, but it is better than arial. Myself, I prefer either Tahoma or Georgia. Everyone has their own quirks!

The way I look at it is, the people who chose to "sit on the fence" should have their 23% of votes allocated to option #1 meaning that we get to keep the trendy new font.

Hi

Actually Arial is essentially the old Helvetica font. When I worked with typesetting computer systems Helvetica was the font of choice for a lot of publishers due to readability. Arial is probably the most common font.

However, I read someplace that Arial uses more ink in printing (do not know why and not pertinent here) and Tahoma is better. The default font Microsoft uses for Windows is usually MS Sans Serif but I have seen Tahoma.

Bottom line is keep this font. The adage "if it ain't broke don't fix it" comes to mind.

Sorry Tassie,

According to Robert's Rules of Order, an "abstain" (which I take such 'non-votes' to be as they don't care either way) is counted with the majority. So....back to the way things were. Good.
