I think I can make this one. I have an event late afternoon but if I get there early I can do both

Didn't they used to have a monthly one in Windsor at an old church in the town?

Hi ... is there a special commemorative postmark for this event or are you making use of a "new/replacement" permanent pictorial? The last one I have on record for your location is this:

which was the FDU way back then.

Thanks in advance ...

Colleen, I think that may be the last commemorative one (though I stand to be corrected).

That one is definitely the permanent pictorial, though when it was last renewed, heaven only knows! Obviously, it would need to have been once or twice at least since then.

So .... the burning question remains: Is there to be a special commemorative postmark just for this event??

I await the answer in excited ... even breathless!! ... anticipation

Hi Colleen,

Yes we are getting a new pictorial cancel for the show, it is for "100 Years of the First Powered Flight from Ham Common" which is between Richmond and Windsor (Ham Common is where the RAAF Base is now) the first powered flight was made by William Ewart Hart.
The new cancel will be for Windsor NSW 2756 and the first day of issue will be at the show on the 21st April 2012.

Richmond has had a new permanent pictorial cancel since the Hobartville Homestead one you showed the pic of, it was in May 2009 and that was for the 150th Anniversary of the St Monicas Parish. There is a picture of the St Monicas postmark on the top of the Richmond Stamps Clubs website if you want to look this is the link http://www.richmondstampclub.com/

Cheers Ann.

Ah ha Ann!! Another one that hasn't been advertised through Australia Post. Would you like me to send a newsletter to all the Australia PictorMark (APM) subscribers, and put something on my blog for you?

I know Stampboards is a fantastic source of information, but some people are very, very focussed on just postmarks and rely on their news as I've outlined above. Entirely up to you ... I never do such a thing without permission.

And you're absolutely right about St Monica's of course! I'd forgotten it momentarily as I haven't finalised 2009 for the second edition of APM yet. A very nice postmark indeed but a little confusing as it obviously has a moveable date although from memory it was advertised as "commemorative" which usually means a single date or short date range only:

Do you have special covers available for sale on the day and if yes, how can we order them please, and how much do they cost? Presumably, the postmarker will also be available for the first day of use through the Windsor PO? Is the St Monica's one from 2009 still be used by Richmond? And will this new one for Windsor be an ongoing permanent for that location?

Whoever said a postmark is just a postmark didn't have a clue!

Hi Colleen and all interested,

Of course, put it in your newsletter & blog it would be greatly appreciated. The St Monica's postmark is a permanent one and still in use, the previous Hobartville Homestead is supposed to be still in use too but they have lost it and not replaced it.

We, the Richmond Stamp Club are doing a souvenir cover for the new postmark price is $5.00, I have put an order form on the clubs website or a cover can be ordered by sending an email to the club. The cover will utilise a PStamp for the Show. I hope it's OK to advertise that here, my apologies if it isn't.

As to the postmark being permanent or commemorative, I still don't know (I'll let you know when I find out). Australia Post have also told us the first day will be Sat 21st, so first day will only be available at the show as the PO isn't opening on the day, but I assume you would still be able to get the first day at the PO during the following couple of weeks??

Cheers Ann.

Speaking about these, my wife got this cover in today's mail with an invite to the Richmond Show (1988, now that's posthumous usage :!: ):
