Can anyone shed any light on cinderellas from this period? I have 4 different ones that appear to be printed? in black and have a watered pink/blue watercolour tint applied. If any one can help it would be appreciated. They possibly are in some way related to the Australian artist Collingridge Rivett as I have seen a cover on ebay with a similar cinderella attached dated 1982 with his name in the design. I have another cover in my collection which is addressed to C Rivett with another similar cinderella. I will try to scan the material that I have tomorrow (scanner is down at the moment) and attach it to a further post.

A scan of the images you have would help...

Attached is an extract of Bill Hornadge's "Cinderella Stamps of Australasia" (1st Edition, 1974). It refers to one Cinderella (designed by E.W. Roberts) from 1968, and a bogus overprint (circa 1946).

The Cinderella Stamps CD (which contains an illustrated, priced listing of Cinderella Stamps compiled by Bill Hornadge and originally published in print between 1990 and 2000) has no mention of specific Norfolk Island cinderellas, other than:
* the ("Australian") 1970 Anpex souvenir designed by Richard Bates, which became the basis of the Norfolk 1970 issue;
* some Monty Wedd postcards and other maxicards;
* "local post" booklet stamps (which now have catalogue status);
* overprinted "cheque duty" stamps;
* the "AUKLAND" error on the 1974 UPU issue;
* NI specimens;
* NI coil stamp offsets; and
* some (catalogued) philatelic exhibition souvenirs).

No reference to the items you are describing.

I have not had any sucess in downloading illustrations of these cinderellas from photobucket.com to this forum.( I managed to sucessfully upload them to photobucket) If anyone out there wants to see them please supply an email address so that I can forward them to you. (If that is OK with Stampboards) I know, I am completely computer illiterate!!!!! If anyone can give me step by step instructions to upload from photobucket.com or my computer, it would be greatly appreciated.

OK, I have managed to get the links over, but where are the pics? Am I expecting too much hpoing for 4 illustrations? I have used the recommended size, but perhaps I should use a smaller size?

MOD HAT ON

Hi Starstamp, I have fiddled around with your post, got rid of the excess [IMG] references, and it came out like this:

So you are THIS close to getting it right. Keep trying - practice makes perfect.

So far I have not been able to find much about Collingridge Rivett, 1923-2008, Australian Artist (Oils,Ink) Produced a number of cinderellas mainly with Australian or Norfolk Island connections. Most appear to have been produced in very small numbers (20-50 copies) and are not easy to find. I would appreciate illustrations of any Norfolk Island 'finds'

There is not much about Collinridge Rivett the Australian Artist on the web, all I found was on StampBoards.com. I bought most of my Collinridge Rivett covers a few years ago and I did not tie them to him until I bought the Aug 1967 Ships First Day Cover on eBay last year. It had his address and the A.F.D.C. Baulkham Hills, N.S.W. hand stamp on the back and had SOUTH SEAS PACIFIC hand stamps which are on some of my other covers. You can find all my Collinridge Rivett on my web site at

http://john3w.co.uk/norfolkisfdc/site/index.php

I have collected Norfolk Island FDC for about 12 years and I about 700 different covers and I have lots of other Norfolk Island material that will be of interest. I will do another post shortly and try some pictures of the Cinderella's that more detailed.

Hi John,
It is great to see that there is a record being kept of these cinderellas. My own collection is very small, as you can see by the above illustrations. I have quite a few of the Australian FDC's by Rivett, but my main interest is Norfolk Island. I am intrigued by the use of the cinderellas mail to Tattersalls (as above) and would like to find more of these on commercial mail.

stamps_fishing currently has this set offered on eBay.

Note the poor quality of the overprint on the 7½d. I suspect a laser printer malfunctioned. :lol:

Has anyone seen these before? Again that £ symbol is the same type as others he has recently offered.

Another cinderella label - this one is from 1984 on the back of an 'House of Prouds' advertising envelope.

John

The Australian Cover Society did a write up on Collinridge Rivett, if you contact them they will be able to assist you.

I don't see the bottom left hand corner one in what you have posted so far.
