Dear Stampboarders

I need some "in good faith" advice.

I have an opportunity to purchase this KGVI White Wattles:

Image

How do you think it looks?

Centering? Perfs? Toning?

Authenticity?

Has anyone seen it before?

This is not a trick question. I need an alternative view.

What price would you put on it? A range will do.

Thanks

KGVI

The centering and perfs are self evident, and a very obvious "White Wattles" - seems to have have had toning VERY crudely touched up by some idiot, ruining it forever - we'd need to see the reverse for more on that.

Please READ rule 10, and edit the now totally meaningless heading to 90% of readers - "Advice on KGVI White Wattles"

Thanks for that advice Admin. You're obviously on the ball.

I've read "Rule 10". I see what you mean.

Happy to adjust the title to include the word "Australia". Is that what you have in mind? Or was there something more needed to ensure full compliance with Rule 10?

How do I edit when the "edit" button has disappeared?

KGVI

PS: I got the photo bit right at least :D

Got it.

Thanks for doing it for me.

Not snoozing - boozing.

BTW are the perfs re-perfed in your opinion? That bit is not self-evident to my eyes I'm afraid.

Perfs are kosher - the toning "fixing" - turned disaster is not.

Sorry, no expert, no help.

But what is that round hole six or seven perfs up on the left, not really a hole, but an indentation. Can the experts tell us if this normal for a missed perf?

Or has an owl been chewing on it. Sorry, couldn't help myself. But i am really asking a sincere question about the indentation. Don't think I couldn't give a hoot.

I will slink off to the GOMC thread now. I've got a good 'Blue Wattles.' Used and Mint. I bought the whole set of definitives from Glen late one evening. Mnt and used copies of 1937-49 I think. Ending with the Robes.

I will try and find the link and you might get a better idea of what not to pay just for a white wattles.

KGVI, try this.

viewtopic.php?f=28&t=15724 The link works now, sorry. I messed it up.

Alternatively in the Sold or Moved forum go to page 48.
DEc 4th at 4:14am Aust 1937 Definitives. I got all of these,(nice pictures) which includes 5 or 6 different 3d Blue stamps. Three are "White wattles"; different perfs,Mint, mint and used.

Juzwin prices at the time are quoted for the 3d blues. I got all these and both sets of robes, all the animal defs etc for $225. The Robes are even the "thin" variety. The mint ones. Everything is duplicated and note the different perf variations. Makes e-bay prices for toned White Wattles look bad.

These stamps are all near perfect. That's why they sold in about the time it took me to read about them. I was just lucky to be up, but many stampboards members will sell you similar stuff. Go to the Wanted forum and give it a try.

Or ask Glen. He's got most stuff in bulk.

That's from a learner. An expert will soon give you better advice. Or the same. Good Luck.

Here's a link to a 'White Wattles" topic with a number of great images including close-up's of the joined T and A at base:

The stamp is totally stuffed that much is clear. Why that was not apparent to you is a mystery.

You refuse to show the reverse, so we can assume it also looks stuffed from the back. So why ask those here, if a clearly ruined mint stamp is stuffed, is a mystery to me.

Price a few dollars as a space-filler to any savvy buyer. Most savvy buyers so not buy stuffed stamp at any price of course, but the choice is always yours.

Thanks Raz, Thanks Lakatoi 4 and thanks Glen.

Talk about tone. I think I get the message Glen.

That it was totally stuffed is now pretty clear; but the extent of the stuffing was what I was trying to calibrate at the time. After all Stampboards is where we go to get the answers, isn't it?

And, Glen, I don't "refuse to show the reverse". I'd show it if I had it, but I don't. You see the stamp was posted on-line without the reverse. Presumably for good reason. It's since been removed after I asked a few pertinent questions. I'm not going to say who posted it, but they know.

Thanks again all. And I hope the 122 viewers (to date) have found this discussion entertaining.
