Thanks for the info, although I believe the story of the Town of Donald may have grown(or groan) in the telling

If there is a Donaldston in Australia I am sure it will be full of wonderful, intelligent, and handsome people with only the finest postmarked stamps!!

Your colour catalogue seems more realistic than the old SG Commonwealth one that I have. It is full of descriptions like dull-chestnut or pale bistre. Bistre! What the heck is bistre?

Sounds like a French restaurant! If you look on ebay for these stamps you find 10 different shades, so that doesn't help at all. Hey wait a minute.....I'm starting to sound like a grumpy old man

Much fun and frivolity was likely had by all, I had uncle duties to attend so as Ron has said I spent the afternoon watching a Panda play at Kung Fu

For a full report Please make enquirers to any of the above mentioned Grumpy Old Men.

Hi ScotsmanAbroad
The Oxford Dictionary of Art has this to say of the subject:-

"A transparent brown pigment derived from the soot of burned wood. The colour varies depending on the type of wood. It is often used as a wash for pen-and-ink drawings and watercolours. Claude and Rembrandt were among the artists who most memorably exploited its potentialities. See also sepia."

So Pale Bistre is a pale washed out brown? I guess

And don't worry about starting to sound like a grumpy old man, it is highly contagious and there is no know cure. so just go with the flow

It was taken about 3 years ago for the local paper, even I have not got a copy of it,

If you swear it costs perhaps a silver coin, for a light word and a Gold Coin for a VERY Bad Word.

so I just put another gold coin in the Piller Box,when I saw that picture.

You are right - he doesn't realize that as a hot young thing I had a temper and was always looking for a fight. Anyone anywhere any time.

Well - I was the only female pilot in my year. Top gun doesn't half cover the aggressive macho competitiveness of the people involved.

Now - I am not so hot - but I am someone you might actually want to get to know. I hate fights and arguments and am generally the one defusing tense situations. I care about other people now (I didn't give a rats before) and am generally great to be around.

As you said - like a fine wine - aggressive, bitter and sour in youth and improving with age. Got a ways to go yet so soon people will even want to be my friend.

KENNY, I put some gold and some silver in, but I haven't put any in for weeks.

The swear box is starting to fill, by Christmas we might even have enough for a round or two of coffee.

It is not as bad as it sounds, generally we're all pretty controlled in our speech, but every now and then on a bad day, well...you just have to let go of your frustrations.

I'm just glad Mrs Waroff (SWAMBO) was in Hong Kong otherwise I would have got an earful of the mistakes made by the umpire. She is an avid SWANS supporter and wears red and white all the time. I think she has every bit of merchandising the Swans have ever sold. She even flies to Sinney for matches and meets with her male, gay friends.

The entries for the group of Santas are coming in,and we have a few to pick from.
However one name has been mentioned in the group.and we think whoever comes up with this one will be the winner,

A bit of Bad news however.

Waroof. after having lost a bet that Sydney would Win at the weekend ,has Shaved off his Beard. :?

at the meeting yesterday Gerry was sitting beside him wondering who the new member was, :?:but he did not say it quite that way,and the Piller Box is now a Coupla Bucks better off.

In reading this thread, I can only conclude that there is a serious shortage of razors in Oz. :D
