Yes, must be the wettest Sydney winter in years. It's been cold but dry for many winters here now.

Just started to rain heavily after a few days of light drizzle and sunshine. This should help to clear the haze a little more.

Rain here this morning.

It's that really fine drizzle that you only get at the seaside that smells of the sea and gets you really wet!

Predicted to improve for the weekend, though.

No rain or clouds in sunny Sydney but very cold. Today was the coldest day in a few years.

Near the coast it got down to a frigid 4 degrees C. and in outer Sydney it was a mind numbing -2 degrees C.

It makes you want to move to Queensland (now there is a great idea!).

Typical British Summer here:

Saturday was warm and sunny - managed to sit out in the Garden for a couple of hours.

Yesterday started fine, but rained in the afternoon and was quote cool.

Today's fine but cloudy - about 18C...

I'm comin' for a visit when I retire! 22 C in the winter sounds great. It's still warmer than most of our summer days.

I was just about to reply to Gavin about the huge storm we are having about 60 miles south of him right now (midday) when

.... ... CRACK .... BOOM

Two of my three of my machines went and rebooted with all the implications of that - all internet connections lost and SKY TV gone... taken me 30 minutes to get back on line.

Two free-flowing streams either side of the road - glad we don't live near a river - poor old car must have thought it was getting a jet-wash (a first for everything I guess).

Just came back from a weekend in Sydney's arch rival city, Melbourne and have reluctantly to admit that Sydney is actually more freezing than Melbourne.

Drove 45 minutes to work this morning and all the fields on the way (and our campus) were white with thick frost. Not used to such conditions and nearly went flying when I stepped onto the icy grass getting out of my car. (Not that I expect any sympathy from the northern hemisphere....)

Hope all of the storms are finished now?

Hi, Dave,

We had a few flashes and rumbles in the distance, but seemed to pass over without really doing much.

Colleague in Lytham? Would that be Gov't Buildings?

Hi Gavin - it would indeed - I am currently contracting for them, but work from home most of the time - unfortunately I have to be up there all day Thursday for panic meeting so that's a day lost in travel ....

Oh well it pays the mortgage (and ebay!).

Well, final confirmation that yesterday was Sydney's coldest day in 21 years

Frost everywhere here, even where I live which is relatively near the coast (a couple of Kms.).

Gavin I know but I have had it for over 25 years now and it is like a second natural name to me and doesn't mean anything to anyone who doesn't work there.

Margoz, HOT is anything over 25 C. And believe me, it doesn't happen that often.

Been up in sunny Lytham St Annes today- wish I had been on the beach - unfortunately just an all day meeting in a sweaty office with sweaty people with no air-con....

Midnight
Didn't last tho - raining again now.....

Just heard from my sister who lives near Liverpool England and she tells me that she bought a deck chair to sit out the back garden in the summer sunshine.
It is now up for sale as she has used it three times and reckons summer is over.
Alas she tells me there is more rain expected (about 4 inchs)101 mls and more floods are predicted for some parts of the country.

Weather went freaky since the last post...
sunny to drizzling
...and then cloudy with no rain
...followed by some strong wind and rain and now back to calm.
