AUSTRALIAN KGV ½d

This thread is a WIKI for the Australian KGV ½d faults and flaws or any other related item.
Listed by electros.

The aim of this thread is to have an online catalogue for the faults and flaws and any other related item of the ½â‚« green and orange KGV stamps of Australia.

To do this we require your input,

If you have an example of a fault that you can post, with an electro number a pane number and the position on that pane.
Then just post it at the bottom of this thread. With the watermark and it's perforation.
And we will do the rest.

If you are unsure that you have the correct number for your stamp ask the KGV gurus on the board
Post your scan there first and ask them the question they can be found here.

YOUR SCANS
Please if possible scan your stamps at 1200 dpi and then place them in your photobucket account at the 15-inch screen setting.
If this cannot be done place your scan anyway it will hold it place on the thread until another1200dpi scan comes along.
The 1200 dpi setting gives a good size picture, as you will see below.
Trim the scan, a little bit of black background is ok but we don't want a half-inch boarder around it, again look at the scans below.
A bit of pride in the scan of your stamp will keep it here for as long as the board stays running. The better scan will always be on display.

The last couple of post on the thread will be random posts from members these posts will stay until we have between ten and twenty and then we will copy the scans and then we will remove all post and arrange them in order with the members name as the contributor like in the post below

Below is a template of what each post will look like.
If we keep all post the same then the WIKI will look good from top to bottom.

DESCRIPTION

Left Value Shield: Incomplete right ends of shading lines 26 and 27 (counting up) Leaving very small portions of both lines, this flaw also continues in to the outer coloured margin of value shield at the angled junction but does not penetrate past the white boarder.

Lower Frame: Break in frame below the Y in PENNY

Upper Left Corner: Curving of the corner no right angle to be seen.

Lower Frame: Small notch 0.70mm from the right corner, the notch being 0.5mm wide

Right Frame: Shallow shaving of the frame for 0.5mm at the lower end (about a high as the notch in the lower frame)

Scratches At Right: Right side scratch from the top to the bottom of the stamp and 0.5mm from outer edge of frame. Beginning at the upper most point of the inner white margin and continuing down the frame to the curve of the white margin. It reappearing again to cross the point of the top frame projection, then cutting the tips of all the shading lines down to the emu's tail and the tail itself, and finally cutting the shading lines below the tail to the end of the lower point of the inner white margin . (some copies show a parallel line 0.25 mm to the right in the upper portion of the frame0

RETOUCH AND FLAW
Upper Left Corner: Somewhat clumsy attempt at recutting the inner frame around the top most left leaf, leaving a larger and more rounded apperance surrounding the leaf, leaving the leaves unaffected.

Kangaroo: The tip of the tail which normally touches the top of the lower projecting point of the frame has been cut away leaving a white space between the two.

The left ends of the two shading lines below the tail are also missing.

Scratches At Right: Right side perpendicular scratches as follows - the 1st cuts through 8 shading lines (the lowest level with the tip of the wattle stem) mid way between the wattle stem and the white margin; the 2nd through the tips of the 8th,9th & 10th shading lines (counting down) below the emu's tail; the 3rd through the centre of the lower frame projection; the 4th through the tips of the shading lines at the right of the right value shield; the 5th is asmall scratch in the centre in the frame opposite the lower right corner of the value shield.
