kchrist499 is your image in Photobucket?

You don't have to click on 'Add Photo' in here if you have selected 'Img' in Photobucket.

Keep trying

Size is lovely blue-lazer but focus is a bit fuzzy? Did you use a scanner or a photo?

Unfortunately they are not my stamps, I copied the image from a website some years ago and the stamps have always looked a bit fuzzy. Seemed like a good image to practise with though :P

An opportune time to add this warning again!

----------------------------

IMPORTANT ... remember if you post a link from your photobucket account to this board and then LATER delete that Image from your account, or move it to a sub-folder, the link to here will then be DEAD, and show as a dreaded white box:

Image

I did not realise that until deleting a few images in my early days of photobucket. So PLEASE do not delete or move internally there, images that you have posted anywhere here on stampboards! Or the board will be populated with ugly white boxes like the one above.

If you have a scanned image on your computer or you want to post an image from the internet you can load them to Stampboards via an image storage software such as Photobucket.

To set up a free account with Photobucket:
Go to http://photobucket.com/

Each time you log in you will land on the upload page. The first time you use Photobucket set up a maximum image size compatible with Stampboards:

Image

Do NOT use the largest 1024 x 768 ("17") default size, as that is TOO large for our page, and our software now "chokes" them and refuses to load them up. Tick the 15" OPTION exactly as shown below. The other sizes including Message board are too small.

Image

In the upload screen there are options for uploading from your computer or from the Internet:

Image

When the image is loaded you have a number of options- make sure you use the IMG code option

Image

The image is now in a format ready to load onto Stampboards. All you need to do is
cut and paste the IMG code link and paste it into your Stampboards post box:

Image

Hit the PREVIEW Button, and that shows you all is correct with your image. If it is not, you can play around with it BEFORE hitting SUBMIT after which, all members can see your post.

When all looks correct, hit Submit and your image will appear in the post.

Practise posting an image here: http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=284

Please note - NEVER delete any images from your Photobucket account that you have once loaded here, or they will also be deleted from Stampboards!

That is heavily frowned upon as it disrupts threads, and may lead to a member suspension.

Hi all,
I just joined the forum and have already been to roll call. I purchased stamps from an estate sale and trying to find the Scott's numbers is becoming a task. I also have many old post cards that I am curious about their worth. I know I am getting in a rush but I am very curious and want to find out all I can about these and many more stamps that I own. Therefore, my question is how long does it take or how many posts do I have to make before I can upload pictures of stamps. Any help would be appreciated.

Just to add to Brummie's message, if you are unsure of how to load images onto the Board there is a 'tutorial' at http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=15603

This is one of the stamps I found in the estate sale.
I know it is from Spain,
I can find the number but I cannot find the overprint.
Then I realized that it is an inverted overprint.
I am real curious to know if it is worth anything.

This is one of the Post Cards from the sale.
I can't quite make out the postmark but I think the date on the back is 1875.
Correct me if I'm wrong

Now that you mastered posting images go to the ask questions forum (http://www.stampboards.com/viewforum.php?f=10)and you will probably get some quick answers.

G'day Uppercanadian,

Is this a practice run or did you just leave out the maessage? Some colour differences noticed though!

We stayed at Mississauga for a few days some years ago - not a place known to many out here in the antipodes!

Cheers, Kev.

Thank you so much for the warm greetings. I have been absent from these boards for well over a year. I do look forward to learning and making some contributions, however small, to these boards in the future.

Very best regards,
Brad Fallon

Hi Brummie
I have sorted it. It was down to my original scanning on a low setting and have now increased that. So here is the nice full stamp. I notice that the bottom 1/3rd of the stamp has moved to the rt slightly. SG 38 INVERTED WATERMARK. Hopefully u can help me identify it now. Thanks in advance Bill.
By the way how do I get a stamp picture with my posts on the left.

Hello All.

I'm Steph and I run a Sherlock Holmes Fanpage on facebook : http://www.facebook.com/sherlockstamps

The page was set up to promote the new set of Sherlock Holmes stamps put out by Guernsey Post in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle. We're about to run a competition in the next day or so to win one of the new Mystery Packs so check them out here: www.sherlockstamps.com and then drop by the page and enter the competition.

Also while I'm here, anyone that knows of other Sherlock Holmes stamps that are available (or not, as the case most often is) then please let me know.

Cheers guys

Steph

Wish I had a scanner, would make the task so much easier...
I hate digital cameras, took basically half the day to get a decent shot which wasn't entirely blurry.
Oh and thankyou :)

Bill, that is a great image now, good job!

Your words will always be on top or below your image, not next to the image.

Now you are ready to find the correct thread to post this image and to ask all you like. Don't forget you have the 'Search' option at the top of every page.

Hi Margo
Great to see your article in Stamp News!

I have just received an email from Photobucket saying my account will be deleted unless I visit My Album annually. Now that I have my own website I am uploading new images to Stampboards from there. Is it possible to replace all my old images (+ avatar) with copies from my website and hence delete my Photobucket account?

I assume if I delete my Photobucket account all my old Stampboards images will be lost.

You may wish to remove this post once you have read it.

That is correct
All you have to do to keep the account active is to open it up every now and then, maybe everytime you logon to sb logon in and logout of pb.

Hi Avscat

Thanks re the Stamp News article 8)

Currently we are looking at ways that all of the images currently on Stampboards can be saved to the Board exactly to get around this issue with Photobucket.

In the medium term that will be the answer to your question but in the interim then Gutters has offered sound advice re minimal action to keep your Photobucket going.

To relink all of your images to your website would be a big task and, hopefully, unnecessary when the image storage issue is resolved.

Hope this assists
Cheers

Hi Erik

As Brummie says, they will email you a warning. If you've just forgotten your password etc you can request a reset.

One option they are offering is to pay ~US$2 per month to become a PRO member and your images will be kept forever!

They do send a reminder email a few weeks before your account expires.

I will not be using them again now that I have my own website.

My old images and avatar will remain as long as I visit my free 'basic' Photobucket account every 12 months to 'refresh' it. New images will be OK as they will be stored on my own stamps website ( http://www.asv.net.au ) and linked from Stampboards.

If Stampboards capture all images and store them on their server = no worries!

You do not need do anything else except poaste in the CORRECT photobucket link.

As clearly outlined in post 1 here!

----------------------------

On your own photobucket settings you can quickly edit out the other links you never use, to just not appear so as you can't possibly get confused. (They for some reason initially give you 4 different types of link by default.)

I've edited mine down to ONLY show:

Direct Link

IMG Code

The top one I use where making avatars for members, the lower link is what we use on these boards.

Most members here would get by just fine with leaving just this ONE option - i.e.:

IMG Code

However if you do insist for whatever reason to have all showing, THIS below is the link to post to here - it ALREADY has the [img] coding on it, front and end, so you need do nothing except paste it here and hit SUBMIT!

And better still if you hit "PREVIEW" you can see that it is working correctly BEFORE it is posted here.
