Stampboard's third birthday is fast approaching....its 1st April

There are a few ways of celebrating!
Here's an update:

1. How MANY of us can fit into a phonebox competition
To enter type on this thread your guess here as to HOW MANY members will post onto this thread from 9.30am to 10.30am AEDST Sunday 28th March.
The correct answer (or closest) wins $100 Glen Stephens gift voucher

2. Stampboards birthday bauble for those online
Simply login to Stampboards anytime between 9.30am to 10.30am AEDST Sunday 28th March -regardless of whether you post or not you will receive a Stampboards "I was online for Stampboards third Birthday" bauble added to your profile if you wish to have this.

3. Stampboards birthday group photo
As part of Stampboard's third birthday celebration, Skippy has kindly volunteered to create a birthday 'photo' based on the famous Sgt Peppers album cover.
All you need to do to join is is post a photo to http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=18052 before the 2nd of April and you will be in the picture (literally)

4. Post your thoughts on Stampboards first three years
fromdownunder started a thread where members can add their thoughts about the past three years of stampboards if they wish -
http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=17987

***********************************************

OK . . the competition is -- you need to type your guess here as to HOW MANY members will post onto this thread from 9.30am to 10.30am AEDST Sunday.

It might only be 20. It might be 200. Or it might be more - or less!

Remember only half those Registered Members reading the boards at that time might bother to post here. (Plus we generally have as many "lurkers as signed in members) Sending Members already logged on, a quick polite email to remind them of this thread and to make a quick post is allowed, on this one occasion.

So type your exact guess here on THIS thread as to HOW many.

First to type a number in case of a tie, wins out. So guess NOW! Entries close at 9.29am Sunday.

Prize is a Glen Stephens $100 Gift Voucher! To spend on whatever you wish!

----------------------------

How many stampboarders can you squeeze into a phonebooth at one time ?

Image

How many stampboarders can you get in a mini at one time ?

Image

How many stampboarders can you get on a bicycle at one time?

Image

And now........just HOW MANY members can we get on Stampboards at the one time?

To celebrate Stampboard's THIRD Anniversary on April 1, Margoz came up with this great idea about seeing how many people we can get simultaneously logged onto the board - from all around the world.

Everyone logged in at the appointed hour gets a special bejewelled bauble next to their handle "I was Online For Our 3rd Birthday" (if they want it) and if they'd like to forward a picture, we can hopefully do a virtual group photo montage -- just like Sargeant Peppers!

Maybe we can lasso skippy or someone like that with great graphic skills, to undertake that project? 8)

Image

We decided on this coming weekend prior to our Anniversary, so we don't get caught up in Easter and daylight saving changes.

When we were doing the quizzes, 10am Sunday AESDT seemed to be one of the least inconvenient times for everyone, and so it will be:

We have decided upon this Sunday 28th March at 10 am Australian Eastern Daylight Time, ie (we think these are your times!)

4pm (Sat) San Francisco USA
5pm (Sat) Denver USA
7pm (Sat) Quebec CANADA
7pm (Sat) Toronto CANADA
7pm (Sat) New York USA
7pm (Sat) Washington DC USA
7pm (Sat) St Johns GRENADA
8pm (Sat) Buenos Aires ARGENTINA
11pm (Sat) London UK
11pm (Sat)Belfast UK
midnight (Sat) Copenhagen DENMARK
midnight (Sat) Berlin GERMANY
midnight (Sat) Paris FRANCE
midnight (Sat) Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS
midnight (Sat) Ljubljana SLOVENIA
1am Johannesburg SOUTH AFRICA
2am Tel Aviv, ISRAEL
4.30am Delhi, INDIA
6am Hanoi, VIETNAM
7am Perth AUSTRALIA
7am SINGAPORE
7am Kuala Lumpur MALAYSIA
7am HONG KONG
7am Shanghai, CHINA
8am Seoul, SOUTH KOREA
10am Sydney AUSTRALIA
10am Melbourne AUSTRALIA
Noon Wellington NZ

All you need to do is diarise that time, and post on THIS thread then.. post now by all means too. 8)

We often get 40 or 50 members on line these days at any given time (albeit a lot are not signed in!) so 100 or so online at once is quite doable I'd guess? We shall see.

fromdownunder started a thread today where members can add their thoughts about the past three years of stampboards if they wish -

http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=17987

There WILL be a grand prize of course .. not sure how to award it yet, or what it will be, but it WILL go to someone who posts on THIS thread.

I may well ask someone to use a random number generator to select a random number from 1 to how ever many posts we have, and they will win.

SO, post OFTEN in this thread if you are wise! All flippant and light hearted posts are all OK on here.

So add any comment you like HERE, and re-visit it Sunday 10am AEDST!

Glen

Can anyone figure out the time that is in Washington, DC? I'll probably be there by then.

I don't think I can be a part of this event!

so at 10.oo am on Sunday I will be busy flogging stamps,
But its a great Idea, hope we get thousands on board, just make sure we don,t crash, the bus by being overloaded,

I am curious as to whether the board can handle high traffic?

I know many websites can crash when 1000 or so people sign in, as they are not used to that kind of traffic all at once.

Anyway, sounds like a great idea, and I will most likely be involved. :)

Hi Glen, good idea!!

But I have to apologize for not being on the net then. We'll have a party in our house on saturday evening and so I doubt very much that I will have time for stampboards at midnight (Germany).
Sorry.
Best wishes for this event, Lars

These phb boards are very robust.

I am thinking we'll only be 100-200 on line, and for these boards that is a cinch to handle!

Being a Sunday, there may be some folks who are out at Church. So what about 10pm Sunday night (or Sunday afternoon) if it's not too late to change the timetable?

For the photo, do you want Catweazle or the real me?

As Glen said above, this isn't an issue for the server or the phpBB software.

I'll be online on Sunday morning, Sydney time :D

I think most churches have a few services on the Sunday Catweazle so you could go to a different service :? You wouldn't be the type to sleep till midday on a Sunday would you :?:

This sunday - oh drat, I just remembered I'll be in Tasmania for the next 2 weeks, trying to keep warm inside a tent when its frosty and raining outside and everything's cold and wet. Which means no computer, no internet, no Stampboards. Pity...

Looks like you guys will just have to have me in memory and not in reality at this birthday party, and think of me living hobbo-style when you're nice and warm with a cuppa in your study living it up on this great forum...

Everything cold and wet?

If thats what you think! I wish it had been cold and wet last weekend, then perhaps some of the 2000 customers that visited our cafe over the two days would have stayed home. :)

Where are you camping in Tassie? I have been all over Tassie, visited most small rural towns, every major town, eaten 1000's of meals in hundreds of different restaurants and cafes and done just about every tourist thing there is to do.

There are plenty of things I recommend, let me know if you need some tips. :)

There is even one stamp shop.

Just one? Where abouts is it - I might pay it a visist?

We're going all around Tassy in a clockwise direction( ), sort of tagging along with my aunt and cousins although we'd probably prefer to spend time in one destination or not quite so many ourselves. Still, it's going to be great fun because I've never been there before. We're going across by ferry this Friday morning (the cost of which would have got the family to NZ and back!)

Not sure of all the places we'll be staying in, but the list includes: Devenport for a night or two, Cradleback Mountain (or whatever it's called), Port Arthur and some palce down there that starts with S, then Macquarie harbour and place between there and Hobart. Also a place near Delorain where my Dad lived for a bit when he was a boy. :D

The stamp shop is in the CBD of Hobart. Not particularly big, if there is something you want, and you ask, 90% of the time they have it. :)

Sounds like a good trip you have planned.

If you can fit "Binalong Bay" (10 mins from St Helens) into your plans, then I would definetly recommend it. Beach there got voted the worlds best last year.

Cradle Mountain is great. A trip to Bruny Island you would probably like too, if that fits into your schedule. Also would recommend a trip on the Peppermint Bay Cruise (6 hours long includes nice lunch and only about $50 per head).

Take your iPhone and sign in to SB with wireless internet :P

If you simply login to the page and leave your computer sitting there, it will consider you signed in right? That would solve the problem for Lars et al.

While I am a night owl, you won't see me still awake/waking up at 7AM, I just won't close the browser at bedtime. My computer sits not far from the bed, so I'll almost be at it.

No worse than some of the things that happen to Rev. Lovejoy on The Simpsons. :P
At least its a quiet activity...and having your head bent reading the phone, it will look like you're praying. 8)

If I have to pick a number then I'll say 91.

I'll try to be here. (But I think only 83 will make it)

Admin update - Seeing we are nearly on a new page I'll re-cap the Rules

-------------
OK . . the competition is -- you need to type your guess here as to HOW MANY members will post onto this thread from 9.30am to 10.30am AEDST Sunday.

It might only be 20. It might be 200. Or it might be more - or less!

Remember only half those Registered Members reading the boards at that time might bother to post here. (Plus we generally have as many "lurkers as signed in members) Sending Members a quick polite email to remind them of this thread and to make a quick post is allowed, on this one occasion.

So type your exact guess here on THIS thread as to HOW many.

First to type a number in case of a tie, wins out. So guess NOW! Entries close at 9.29am Sunday.

Prize is a Glen Stephens $100 Gift Voucher! To spend on whatever you wish!

Being a Sunday, there may be some folks who are out at Church. So what about 10pm Sunday night (or Sunday afternoon) if it's not too late to change the timetable?

That would be perfect. Just sneak a netbook into the service and log on from there -- will make the time go much more quickly. When I'm forced to go I always take a skinny little novel that I can hide in the prayerbook. Makes the service much less endless.

I reckon with 4000+ members we must be able to get a large number on-line at once.
My guess 277

In your estimate of world times have you allowed for most of the civilised world putting clocks forward an hour at 3am this Sunday morning?
