Hi All,

As a breakaway from the ever popular commercially used covers section started by Didge, I thought I would start one about the nice covers I have picked up.

Namely the commercially used , Illustrated tourist covers that possibly held postcards, im not sure.

These can be very basic or quite colorful and detailed like the one shown below. They can be internally used within Australia or sent to far away destinations.

Any covers that you have or any information regrding these would be appreciated.

Here is one that fold and on the other side are views of the area and tick boxes to let everybody know what you are doing without having to write it all.

Interesting collecting sideline. 8)

To be honest I have simply tossed these type of covers into the junk boxes in the past, but can see they would make an interesting showing.

My observation having handled 100s if not 1000s of the types below, is that the paper stock of these is REALLY thin and flimsy.

Presumably as they were mainly headed overseas they made them of "AIRMAIL" weight paper, thus lessening the weight, but they really can get knocked around, and they also appear to be on lower grade type paper stock, so foxing often seems to be in these.

All true, i have seen plenty that are no good, the one you highlighted is fairly good.

The Stampboard member has also put it for sale on Ebay. :D

Nightwatchman,

Love the Exmouth cover and a good stamp as well.

Let me know if you ever want to part with it.

Something a few days old. Again picked up from the charity. I could just about fill the board every week with a bit of effort. You should see what 'gets processed' at times. :(

Fantastic Cover !

I can remember going there as a kid, so much fun

oooh you have me thinking about trying to collect Theme parks and tourist attraction covers now... Old Sydney Town, The Australian Reptile Park, various Zoo's, and the Big things ... banana, pineapple, prawn, merino, trout, dog on the tuckerbox...... and the holy grail "Waratah Park " The home of Skippy

An albumful of these would be a great colourful collection. Don't have anything like these to add to the show though.

This one is quite funny
Compare it to the cover in post 1
Identical no?
I am related to the addressee, so it would have come from my place originally. (from my father-in-laws hoard, we sold a few boxes years ago before I decided to collect covers)
Somehow it's made it's way back to me in an ebay lot, or from a stampboarder
