Just for one day I was a legend, then Glenny-boy upped the ratings and I became a freak once again.

I wannabbee a legend again how many posts do I need now and when will the goalposts move again?

And look on the bright side .. it affects EVERYONE when the levels move, and not just you.

(In fact take a screen capture of your shooting Red Star you NOW have, as that will change soon. )

Folks go up, down and sideways ..... me included of course.

These colour stars are fairly similar to the ebay ratings, so I thought folks here might like them for a bit of fun.

Of course the ever changing issue is WHERE to set the new cut-off level.

Being a new board I've changed the cut-off level about a dozen times already, as more and more members have started posting, and we have quite a lot now well into 3 figure post counts.

A fortnight or so back we had no-one with a 3 digit post count! I think Red Shooting Star was only 50 posts and if I recall Simon Dunkerley was the first one to get there.

So far this is where they are at (subject to change at any moment!)

Junior Stamp Boarder 2 (Blue)
Green Star Superstar! 5 (Green)
Well Advanced Stamper 10 (Mauve)
RED Star Member! 25 (Red)

I've made over 40,000 posts on travel Bulletin boards just like this, and have a very good handle on these kind of things, and what works, and what does not - IMHO.

scurralous is our largest poster and he most deservedly is alone on:



That said, I may move up RED Star Posting Freak! to 300 or 350 very shortly and make minor adjustments with others. This will not make me popular with crosscrescent as he is sitting right on about 250, but he may get it for a few days at least.

In fact I might even entirely change the colour order on a few as for instance RED Star Posting Freak! should be the very highest star, and be Red Star LEGEND, as you only get that on ebay after 100,000 feedbacks I understand, and I really wonder if anyone has ever got up that high there?

The reason for very fast changes for new members is just to get folks into the habit of posting a little, and seeing their star rating change.

After 10 posts you've gone though 4 star levels right now.

That's the logic behind it all, and any input is appreciated. The names of the levels can be changed at will too.

After a while of course the levels will be fixed in stone, and not need changing.

But for a brand new board we have to be a bit flexible, and move gradually with the flow.

Well we seem to be getting heaps of members setting new milestones lately, so I have decided on a long overdue tweak of the Star Bauble levels.

We have 14 members over 20,000 posts, 7 members over 50,000, and 5 over 80,000 posts!

Good of you to let us know what's happening to a fair question.

Personally I have never bought anything on e-bay and so am not familiar with the star rating system. Just having fun, poking my nose into things (that I sometimes should not) and having boarders like Charlie, Lakatoi 4, gavin-h, lanna and so many others, just to mention a few, is the real value I get.

But if you say 250 is the cut off point and I'm near there, why not just try it, even if it changes again. Let's not get overly upset - seriously I'm not.

Suggest it would be easier to get a whole bunch of the NZ 1953 Coronation series 1/6 (nice crown on that one) & try to flog them off!
